I'm only fluent in my native language (Canadian English, obviously). I have taken classes for German and French, but I am by no means fluent. If I'd had all the money in the world or secondary school was free though, I would have liked to learn to speak many languages fluently. I'd always wanted to learn Spanish, among a few others.

Bilingual English and (Swiss)-German. I grew up speaking Swiss, which doesn't have all of the formal structure of "high" German, but there are tons of dialects and no official written forms, so they teach German in school. I've had lessons in Latin, Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin. I've also had enough exposure to French that my skill is probably on par with my Spanish.

Oddly, I didn't really make much headway on Japanese until I started studying it on my own, outside of a classroom setting. I think the biggest breakthrough came when I finally understood why I'd been having so much trouble with it. I was trying to figure out the reading for a kanji character and discovered that there were 4 completely different readings for it: a Japanese reading, a Chinese reading, a Korean reading, and a reading specific to when it appears in a family name. In trying to sort out that one character, I learned a ton of stuff that helped me figure out when to use which reading (generally just On'yomi and Kun'yomi). A lot of it was probably stuff they'd tried to teach in class, but it just didn't click back then.

I'm a little backwards from most people, though. In high school I discovered a book about Japan and Japanese history that made me want to visit there one day. The Swiss have an attitude that you should really make an effort to learn at least a little of the language of a country before you visit. (They required lessons in four languages in Swiss schools: German, French, and Italian--the languages of all of the surrounding countries--plus English.) It was through the people I met in class that I first discovered anime and manga....only to discover that I'd been watching anime since ~1980 without realizing it was Japanese.

Duude, I made a language before (according to my parents) and even other kids spoke it at the time xD. I think that beats learning languages but i do believe there were around 5 different languages i knew from moving around a lot. Five isn't a lot when your first language is not English and you've lived in countries other than your motherland. Unfortunately, most of those languages are not well known and i could never practice them, eventually i did forget.

I can only speak in English but I would love to learn to speak several other languages, like Russian or German. My motivation? To be able to curse at someone without them knowing what I said.

English is my native language, I've studied Japanese very seriously for 10 years and I'm literate and fluent. I was taught spanish as a kid but I barely use it so it's nearly completely gone.
