Windows 8.1 is doing fine for me. My two desktops will stay with that while my laptop that's running Windows 7 will be upgrading. Only because it's pretty much old and my secondary computer that I hardly use.

I just set up voice recognition for Cortana. Its very accurate, even when I talk quietly. Cortana is my favorite thing about the update so far!

So yay or nay? Kind of want to upgrade but still kind of uncertain. Keep me posted on how it does if you have upgraded!

I upgraded to Windows 10 in January. All of the issues I had back then have since been resolved.
My computer runs all my applications and games without issue currently.

I found Cortana annoying, but that is personal preference, not functionality.

I liked 10 till the windows app store shat itself then started not retrieving licenses nor installing software. Probably just end up doing a fresh install of it tomorrow to see if it fixes the problem since I tried everything else

Unless something has changed this upgrade only applies to Windows 7,8, and 8.1.

Well, I installed it... and...

I like it so far. It's faster than Win 7, and seems "smoother". How do I get away from my desktop onto that "Windows 8 look"?

I've reserved a copy since the notifications first alerted me, and I have still not been able to download it. Is it done randomly, by order, or am I supposed to do something else?

I've been using 7. I'm going to keep using 7 until 10 is more stable. I'm not gonna be a test subject in MS' experiment tbh, I don't know what their demo does to your computer. Hopefully, 10 isn't as bad as 8. I pray it's not as bad as 8.

So to my understanding Microsoft is rolling it out between July 29th and August 2nd to people that are eligible. If I recall correctly the order is meant to be something like Insider Preview (the people that help test the OS though it they upgrade from the tech preview the OS apparently only lasts 6-8 months), people that reserved a copy, and everybody else.

However if you really want to get onto Windows 10 you can use this link. It will allow you to download Microsofts Media Creation Tool from there you can select either the Upgrade this PC or Make an ISO file. I have not used the Upgrade this PC option but the Make an ISO file will require you to select a language and your current OS version (Home or Pro ignore the N versions) as well as its architecture (32bit or 64bit).

If you decide though that you want to make a fresh install of Windows 10 you first must do the upgrade and install something like Speccy so you can find out what your Product key is (you will want to write that down somewhere). After that you can do a clean install.
