Is there a way to manually change the resolution on the Roku? Crunchyroll almost always plays in 480p on my 1080p screen, and if I do gt 1080p, it's after I've already watched half the episode.

Been wondering why there isn't a quality selection for certain devices as well. I can't choose it on my Xbox One. My internet is more than enough to handle the 1080p but it seems to auto select 480p to start, then switches when it feels like it.

I think it bases it's choice of resolution on what it believes to be you current download speed, so if it thinks that the connection can't handle it your chosen item is streamed at a lower resolution and it (possibly since in my instances it changes resolution after the adverts finish playing and it goes back to the stream) checks every once in a while.

That means that its a gamble if you get the resolution you know you should get and know your internet connection can handle or not, but that can be pretty much what you get if running on wireless (with the roku 3 being the exception since it does have wired abilities) since distance and the router itself can affect everything (the router I have changes channel and the maximum download speed over wireless at will).

They had better add this feature in soon, because my video quality is degrading more and more by the day. Its really getting frustrating when my stream constantly slips into that grainy SD mode. I would take the old app's psuedo- HD quality over this in a heartbeat. Because it looked good enough, and more importantly it was consistent.

The quality shifts, quite frankly, give me a freaking headache.
