I used to lie about things over the internet when I was a kid like 11-15 but now I really don't see a point in lying, I have no reason to.

Depends if it's malicious or not I guess. I lie on most sites that I'm male, so it's meh.

I see no difference in telling a lie here or in real life other than that anything said on the internet is easily there forever.

Maybe that's one of the things that make the internet fun...You can be anything you want with the power of being anonymous.

I've found that little lies add up. Even when they're seemingly harmless they add up. Eventually you might find yourself lying to provide you more time until you can complete a task you already said you completed, or you lie about really enjoying something so as to be forced into doing said claim because you yourself cannot find the courage to do it alone. While these may feel like it is not a big deal, you will find yourself telling bigger and more drastic lies. They come easier and you lose the shame in telling them because it feels natural. Lying becomes a habit, a hard one to quit. The liars who want the pity probably started small, even felt shameful about it however, like I said, it becomes second nature. They discover if well done they can get just about anything. Because of that loss of pride they can shamelessly claim heartbreaking scenarios getting them the attention they have learned to control. Perhaps the ones seeking the attention, when asked why, will simply reply with "It just comes out, I feel it as truth, It's harder to be truthful" if they were to be 100% honest. These are my views of course...

Probably a wise choice.

My general philosophy with that is, instead of lying, omitting information, if I don't want to share it.
AKA: Don't want the truth of a matter to be known? Just keep quiet about it.

When I do end up telling a whopper on the web or anywhere, I at least try to keep it small and believable.
If it's something with a consequence, being honest will be the best course of action, since lying about that will result in an even worse outcome.
e/i: Earn a bad grade, get grounded for several days. Cover up bad grade with a lie, get grounded for several weeks, when the truth comes out. out.
