I find it funny that people are complaining about all the ad stuff and other things with Windows 10. I just upgraded and it actually gives you a chance to begin with to turn off all that crap when you're going through the installation. It installs if you hit 'express', but you can do custom settings. It's literally right there in the process.

I'm working on fixing up the settings and everything now that I'm in. It already feels lighter than 8 or 7 did and it's easy to change things around. I like it a lot so far!

I heard that was a sort of profile option that could be disabled. Somehow I doubt that applies to everything being discussed here. The fact that it is even an option upon installation has me curious to say the least.

I agree it isn't for absolutely everything being discussed here, but it is for a good portion of it (and what I've seen elsewhere on the net so far). I just feel like people should read all the custom/express install settings (this goes for every program that's installed, not just upgrading the operating system) instead of just letting things automatically do whatever. That's the big problem with a good chunk of crap that gets installed on peoples' systems. Of course there are legit concerns just like with any other OS, but for the most part I feel like people need to actually understand what they're agreeing to before they hit next on an install menu.

i like the interface way better then the previous windows 8. glad i have my start menu back.

It appears the start menu and search bar are borked when it comes to app/program entries. There is a hard 500 entry limit for both the start menu and search bar. Might not be so hot if you have a lot of software you need to use occasionally.

Doesn't stop this no really you will still get ad's in applications developed using the Microsoft Ad SDK don't belive me open up Solitaire and go to the Daily Challenges see the ad stream on the right congrats that is what Advertising ID does that is all it relates to.

They don't get in the way so they don't bother me. I don't care if they tailor ads for me or not even if I used the apps. But feel free to wear your tinfoil hat.

I just installed Win 10 onto my Desk top and it went into safe mode it also did not recognize my hdmi or display port. i went to nvidia and found out they only had a beta driver. tried to install it and it failed. finally I tried to restart the computer now its dead! the new window prompt comes up and then black screen with a mouse cursor. mouse moves fine there's just nothing to click on. i can't get ini to anything. so I Think I have to wipe and reload is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

Meh, it's easy enough to prevent it from doing anything I don't want it to do. I was really impressed with the performance of 8.1 on the last PC I put together (except for metro, hate that UI) so if this is like that but with less metro I'm sold.

Left it to install itself while I was at work today, looks pretty good so far. That's saying something for running it on a 6 year old laptop with no hiccups.

Not actually a tinfoil hat here if it is AD ID that microsoft uses it is only seen in their ad stream which is in app. This was how the SDK was built for app developers. Pop up ad's and browser banner ads are tied into searcher results and cookies and then into either the ad server that run those streams like Double click. These are two different types of advertising and the AD ID only works with one of them.

http://adsinapps.microsoft.com/en-US/sdk

Read the SDK yes it is technical and thick at times and mostly deals with the nuts and bolts but they also have how it is to be used.

A quick video on banner ads and how they work.

nanikore2 That's because you're not really a PC gamer.

I have to upgrade at least my gaming PC for DirectX 12, which is only available on Windows 10.

The performance differential between DX 11 and DX 12 can be ridiculous... No-brainer update for PC gamers

You know it isn't wise to make assumptions when you know nothing about me. That being said, I do PC game regularly actually. (CS:GO, GW2, LoL mostly) I work in the IT field too so I'm not exactly inexperienced with PC's

I plan on upgrading eventually, but to do so right away is hilarious at best. I'll wait for the true full release since this free shit they're offering isn't the full package. That comes straight from the horses mouth too. I'll let others be guinea pigs first, then reap the benefits.

Besides, my rig isn't exactly going to need DX12 anytime soon. I'm not a fan of the tile layout Microsoft seems to be in bed with either.

It's a fair assumption if I don't see DX12 mentioned. That is indeed a good reason and for many, the only reason.

Whatever the "full package" is vaguely referring to, it's not all that important to me as a gamer as DX12. If people have cards that can take advantage and up their FPS right then and there, I don't see what's so "hilarious" about it.
