Let's get to what the title talks about. There have been a few series at this point in the west that have major influence off of anime, whether it be the art style or references in the show. I was wondering what everyone's opinions on these shows are.

A couple examples being:

Avatar the Last Airbender
The Legend of Korra
AND
Steven Universe

In my opinion, these are all great series in their own right. What does everyone else think of them? I hope to see a little more of this, whether it be subtle references (Steven Universe) or using a Japanese style of animation.

not all anime need to be moe/10. Legend of Korra and Steven Universe have a decent amount of chibi though!

Ask Adult Swim for that. Channels aimed towards kids don't NEED that. They could use ecchi though...

I honestly prefer it over the rest of the Dragon Ball series. Also, It's a prime example of how sensitive Western Animation is to everything, like sex, tobacco/alchohol, gore/violence, and vulgar language. (Make sure you are watching the unedited version)

I think you could argue Megas XLR was inspired by anime (if I recall it correctly).

Personally, I think it's cool when Western animation takes notes from anime and vice Versa. It's the blending of styles that produces something truly unique, in my opinion.

Haven't seen Steven Universe, but I have seen both Avatar and the Legend of Korra and think those are great examples of the blending producing something unique. However, even though I enjoyed Korra, I'm not much of a fan of it to be totally honest Love Avatar though
