TEDxAmsterdam - Wim Hof - 11/30/10

isn't this really interesting, he's making life-changing scientific breakthroughs by showing that the body can control things that scientists previously didn't believe was possible

Actually I've had to work outdoors for several years in the mid continental Canadian winter at temperatures with wind chill around -30 to 40C. You do get cold for the first half an hour but after that you warm up,( with the appropriate clothing of course). I can't say why but as long as your working and dry you can tolerate it for several hours, even enjoy the very clean air at these temperatures.

Not everyone get to strip down to his drawers in a theater's stage in front of hundreds of people.

Lucky him.

I've seen it before, it's hard to believe for me.

I think his beliefs and actions are sincere but to be doing what he's doing would mean you'd have to be a little crazy. Adrenaline is a stress hormone which has both health risks and benefits, he is somehow able to control that in his body to maintain a core body temperature. He somehow trained his adrenaline levels which is nothing anyone knew was possible because healthcare professionals understood adrenaline as being part of the autonomic nervous system. He shows is that it is something that can be trained in the body for the benefit of withstanding illnesses and harsh conditions without the need for pharmaceutical medications
