In this thread we will use facts to try and figure out why she committed suicide.

She should have just followed instructions and she would have been let go with just a warning. What a shame.

Firstly, do we need two threads on this, albeit with separate goals?

Secondly, she was compliant. She was asking questions and frankly, I don't see why the cigarette was an issue. Or how on earth she needed to be forcibly removed from her vehicle at tazer point due to being annoyed at being stopped for failing to signal.

Sandra Bland's I Don't Know What Actually Happened, but the Media Wants Me to Pick a Side is literally where I stand in this.

It's not even that I don't trust the media, it's that I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THIS AND CAN A BLACK PERSON DIE WITHOUT IT BEING "POLICE BRUTALITY" NOWADAYS??

if anybody gives me that "neutrality is picking the side of the opprwessor" banter btw, I'm not responding to it, LOLOLOL

Like I'm sick and tired of this. People die ALL the time. Most violence involving African-Americans involves them KILLING EACH OTHER. Most general murders involve TWO NORMAL CITIZENS and aren't committed by cops. Let's move on here, enough. There have been constant streams of media coverage around every black death since Ferguson happened, and while I do think in some of them the cops were unjust I'm really getting fucking sick of this. Bad cops exist. Just as bad doctors Exist. Just as bad everything exists in every profession. The system is flawed, I don't think cops should be striking people or hurting them but I also think people should STOP using violence as a form of protest because it's not getting their point across in the right way. That's my two cents. If people want to stop this, it goes multiple ways, and the fueling of the fire stops the moment the media moves onto something different, but I don't expect they will be soon.

Yes, I think we need two threads.

Which is why I made this one.

No, she killed herself. From what I understand, she had been battling depression for awhile.

Until it has been proven that she either comitted suicide of got murdered, i'm staying neutral on the issue... Working with facts is best!

A second thread to discuss the exact same thing is not necessary.

But when it's not police brutality it's because of racism... Yeah, i'm tired of it too, but until this stuff stops happening as often (police brutality/killing of a certain race) then the media probably won't stop so that each news station can help push their respective agendas... It's sad that this is the world we live in...

Now to answer the question posed by OP;

100% Conjecture.

She may felt trapped in her position and could see no hope. This, possibly fueled by the racist phenomena going on with media, could have imprinted the idea of her never being able to win anything in the south. The depression simply fueled this.

It's not, it's completely different. The other thread is for those that believe she was murdered by police, this is the thread for people that think she might have committed suicide.

See it'd be better if they could be merged into one thread, simply titled "Sandra Bland", therefore it wouldn't be siding one way or the other and instead sound like a general discussion thread as supposed to one person's views vs the other's. Ofc this is an issue where people tend to take sides anyway but it'd be easier if the discussion were all in one thread.
