As mentioned above, I wonder how many anime people have watched. More than that though, I wonder how the amount of anime watched affects the viewers perception of quality.

For instance, I've noticed that the more I watch, the less I'm impressed. For a time I would watch literally anything I could get my hands on. Now, however, I feel like I'm much harder to keep happy as a viewer.

Also, have you ever watched a show that you know you wouldn't have liked, but because of the circumstances in your life, you enjoyed it? I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

Shit man been watching anime for over 20 years. Yeah your probably right, but i think its more becasue i have seen so much anime that some are just full of cliche's and stero types and not at all original.
Like its all been done before. Its not always a bad thing but it can come across as chessy or tiresome.

That's how I feel. It's not like the anime I first watched was any better. I just didn't know that it was so similar to all the others. I suppose this happens with any other genre of entertainment though.

Yep like playing RPG's.
Like your always the chosen one or you have to save the world, etc. But if the formular works..
And like when gangsta rap got massive in the 90's. Everyone was a gangsta. I miss that G funk tho!

Haha true that. Speaking of RPG's I should play Ib again. I never got the good ending. I just got the okay ending.

My best guesstimate would be around 400-600 series in my lifetime. Could be a little more but definitely not a little less,

I don't really have answers for the other questions. I just watch anime that in my opinion, have decent to great qualities.

I don't think I've watched more than 100 in the 8 years I've been watching anime, it's probably even less than that. It's quite hard to find good anime nowadays.

I couldn't even guess the number.

I agree with the OP though, the more I watch, the more picky I get. When I first started watching anime I was a lot more enthusiastic and open to seeing new things. As a result, I have a harder time relating to a lot of other anime fans. :*(

My husband's friend recommended some animes where the heroines annoyed me and it was hard to explain what I didn't like because the guy who recommended them absolutely loved the female protagonists that I hated so much.

It's like figs and apples. It's hard to get my hands on fresh figs, so I will buy them even if one in the package is mouldy but apples are so easy to get that I won't buy them if they're soft or in some way less desirable.

any text program will help you I guess.
My notepad can just search after title and how many ep I have watched an see how many there is total.

The more picky you are then I would assume you would like titles that you liked in the beginning, or mainstream like naruto and something similar to that?
