Hello everyone :)

I posted this question in the One Piece discussion thread, this discussion thread to be

specific:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-826221/one-piece-discussions?pg=18

But I thought I should post it here as well to get more information.

I read articles on the internet and watched videos on you tube and other

places maid by people who say that One Piece has elements, signs, and

symbols that represent the Illuminati.

Some of the videos and articles have been blocked or deleted.

Is that True ?

If it is, does it have any affects on any of the characters' personality in any way ?

And why are those videos and articles blocked or deleted ?

P.S

I am being serious with asking this question, so please give me serious answers.

As Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. A lot of the symbols which are used to represent illuminati are fairly common shapes and designs, sometimes a triangle is just a triangle.

People accuse things that are massively popular as having a hidden agenda. Some people play into it like Kanye's dumbass. But One Piece really only tries to follow pirate lore, and piracy itself is a hidden world with codes and shit so I'm sure there are some similarities. But Oda is just some dude who likes drawing manga, he doesn't seem to be out for world domination.

I understood you until we got to the "I'm sure there are some similarities" part.

Can you explain it to me ?

Well, since what they do is illegal and they don't want to be caught by the authorities, pirates have to be secretive. The illuminati is supposed to be this group of schemers so they have to also conduct their business in secrecy. That's it really.

Dude, symbols are ubiquitous and can be interpreted in a variety of ways though they do tend to have certain themes associated with them, Symbols arose as humanity arose, there ingrained into the human psyche to make sense of the world to represent the world to in a way mirror ourselfs. It's not as if symbols are super specific or are moralistic intrinsically in any way or are like specific or aligned to one group most of the time, they are what they are.

I recommend you look into and research symbols and the role they play, I think Freud and Jung wrote about as well as a lot of other psychologists, to get some perspective that isn't as fear driven as today's culture of interpreting symbols.

Thanks.

I don't think what they say about One Piece is true. Fun fact, Oda(the creator of OP) started drawing manga at 17 and throws in a lot of pop-culture references into One Piece. For instance, Enel is based off of Eminem. That's pretty much the extent of the thinking that goes into making the manga in my opinion.
