volume 6 is just the last out, it's not the last volume. The story isn't finished yet. It was published around one week ago

Oh, so you understand Japanese!?
I read you ordered the volume on a previous post. That's amazing!
It's so difficult sometimes having to wait for translations, not just with this anime.

Yes, I've been reading novels in japanese for years now ^^".
RnY is quite an easy novel to read btw. It's quite contrasting with how good it is. The sentences are kept simple as well as the vocabulary. All is in the astounding twisted plot and characterisation. So if someone speak japanese but isn't sure if he can read novels, RnY is a very good novel to start. It's awesome AND it's fairly simple compared to most others. Well obviously it's still dependant on taste as far as the "awesome" part goes

Although you know, about waiting, the author is very slow so I actually had to wait longer than peoples currently waiting for translation ^^". I mean 1 year and 4 months between volume 4 and 5... and usually it's 7-8 months in most other case (8 months between 5 and 6 for example). Compared to that, the translation is fast xD

No offence but where? This is the only forum I've been on where people are so anal about this sort of thing. Every other forum I go onto that discusses a manga, LN, VN or anime people don't bitch about spoilers regarding the latest released volumes/chapters/episodes unless they are in threads specifically for previous releases. IF this thread was dedicated to the English translation of the series or the anime then hell yeah posting stuff about the current volumes would be a bullshit thing to do but it isn't; it is about the novel in general.

I will go back and edit my post to state which volume it is in regards to because I didn't think this would be nor want it to be an issue. I asked you a question, you bit my head off. I'll leave it at that and not discuss this series any further on this site. Have fun there.

I completely understand you, I had to wait a year or so when Chobits was first published. Way before the anime even came out.
So I kinda' resented people being inpatient when the final monthly volumes were coming out. (Tho, Clamp has a nice reputation of publishing on time.) I couldn't imagine waiting 8 months...
and it's still unfinished!

I also did notice the volumes don't have many pages.
Do you know anything about the author? Maybe he's discouraged about the strory and that's why he's so slow? I've read cases when Mangakas go on hiatus after a while because of that.
I highly doubt it since the anime came out now, he must be very exited, and maybe publish, faster?

Where are you from, If you don't mind me asking? I want to learn Japanese but courses here are so expensive. So I've been putting them off until I graduate from college.

For those arguing against spoiling and hiding spoilers using a tag, please remember that you are to read at your own discretion. Also, this is the light novel discussion thread. This is intended to make sure you are responsible and are at fault for your own actions, and not others, so if you are spoiled, then that is all on you.

That's manner to indicate above the spoiler tag what is the spoiler about. "spoiler volume 5" would be enough really to avoid english readers to be heavily spoiled. Actually editing his post to post a joke instead of adding this is just rude for any user who will opening it without knowing about the volume 5 content.

But heh, if anyone agrees with him rather that with me on this, my answer is simple. I haven't read volume 6 yet. So I don't want to be spoiled about it. Since you're unable to behave in proper manner about spoiler, this thread is without me from now on. I like how the usual lack of manner in that type of thread can exclude from discussions even peoples speaking japanese and therefore peoples further away than the english readers on an english board.

Hmm, well, don't worry too much about it. If you see a spoiler tag, then don't click on it and that should solve the issue. Just talk about your thoughts on what you have read and leave it at that. No big deal; i'm just here to discuss, that's all..

Except that as I was saying, I wasn't talking about myself for that spoiler, since I've read that volume. That could have been a problem for me if that was the 6th volume, but it was the 5th. That's not something to do, and I simply said what I thought of it.

Clamp has several stories left unfinished (includign one since more than... 20 years now?) so they have pretty bad reputation on that point :p
The volumes are between 300 to 400 pages. That's standard for most bunkobon format. 400 is even more on the "high" part of the "standard". Japanese like to cut books in smaller volumes to be able to bring it everywhere in the subways and such. Lord of the rings in bunkobon is 9 volumes long for example :p.

No, I don't think he's discouraged. That author admit himself that he has period in which he can't write at all. the 7-8 months are the normal amount of time it takes for him to write a book, which is very okay considering the amount of efforts he puts into the plot. the 1 year and 4 month was probably a period without writing added to it... Either that or he particularly struggled to write the 5th volume. Which I would understand considering how important is this volume. And the result was indeed impressive, too, so can't complain.

Mikami En for example ( Biblia Koshodou, best selling bunkobon in those last years, with between 500k to 1m of copies sold by book) for example write 1 book every 11 months in average. In the end, it's all about quality vs quantity. Authors who can write a lot while keeping very good quality aren't numerous. It's fine imo, I'd rather see more authors do like those two than authors do the exact contrary like Kazuma Kamachi (Index).

As for being more exited, I sure hope that it doesn't put more pressure on him instead, or that seeing the little impact the anime has on sales don't discourage him. RnY isn't popular at all in the anime polls in japan right now. It's like, 20th this season. And the volumes 1 to 5 aren't selling enough during the anime to even have one of them making it to the top 50 sellers of the week for bunkobon so far. The prevision of BR/DVD sales (which are often correct even early on, it's quite imrpessive how they can pint point sales that will happen 2 months later with the beginning of preorder) are even more discouraging, being one of the lowest this season.

I'm from France and I've long past college. I learned Japanese mostly y myself, reducing by a lot the number of hours with a teacher, so it didn't cost me that much.
