My Mexican family cooks menudo (Mexican cow tripe stew) and it smells disgusting while it cooks.
Its smells like a dead cat on the side of the road.
\What about you? What is the worst smell you've come across?

Skunks that have been ran over and left out on the hot road aren't the best of scents.

When my family and I go to the beach my Dad will go deep sea fishing and one time the fridge they were storing the fish in broke and all the fish went bad overnight. Let me just say 15 dead fish make a house smell one of the most terrible smells ever..

butyric acid. It's the chemical that makes vomit smell like vomit.. We handle it in the lab every few months.

My friend found a protein shake that was sitting out on the black top in a bottle for 2 months, then he broke it open in our locker room. Lets say it wasn't the most pleasant thing I've ever smelled.

Over 50 pounds of meat and ice cream rotted in a freezer over 3 days, it was enough to have 3 people puke, and many more in tears x3

A gallon of bleach and 24 hours later they could enter our garage where the freezer was, I handled the smell pretty well so I was able to dispose of the meat while the bleach settled, it was a bad couple days -_-

Ever been in a place where people have publicly urinated and defecated before? That crap is NASTY. And I say that as someone who's been in an animal shelter that tries to mask the smell of animal poop, but can't fully do it. There are some alleyways that YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO GO IN.

I didn't want to get too grim, but burning human flesh/hair sets off warnings in your brain.

Me and a few friends went out camping early one spring and had brought quite a large tent with us along with copious amounts of alcohol and it was a fairly successful trip for the most part. However, while we were sleeping it had started snowing and by the time we woke up, there was about half a foot of the stuff on the ground and the whole area was a muddy mess which was gonna make packing everything back up a huge mess (not to mention that we were all pretty hungover). So as a group we all decided to leave a majority of the stuff there and come pick up the tent sometime later that week...

THREE MONTHS PASS before any of us make it back out there, most of us had forgotten that the tent and everything was there. It wasn't much, there were a few pillows, a sleeping bag, a few clothes got left, and all of the snacks. But me and one of my friends had finally decided to go clean up the campsite if anything was still there, and to our surprise the tent was still standing. So we walked up to it and unzipped the front, unaware that the smell that we were about to be greeted with would be the most putrid stench we had ever had the misfortune of experiencing.
There was no possible way that what we had smelled was just a mixture of mold and mildew that had been thriving in that tent, and after retreating for a quick breather we held our breath and went back inside to see what had happened to everything that we had left behind. Each pillow was still soaked with water and the inside of the sleeping bag was splotched with mold, there was a slight ferrous smell mixed in with everything as if there were a pool of blood somewhere in the tent, but there was no sign of any intrusion since the last time we had been there. I could only stomach that stench for so long before i had to run off and vomit behind a nearby tree, and it was the first time that anything had ever smelled so bad to me that it actually made me sick. Anyways, we were unable to get anything from the campsite, so we just left the tent where it was with the flap open. Hell it's probably still there...
