America can claim much of what popular is. However like the manufacturing jobs it's probably being crated up for shipment to China in the near future.
You already are seeing it in Hollywood movies.

You're 40 years late on the manufacturing jobs.

Football, baseball, apple pie, drinking on other peoples holidays more than they do, that is the American way.

The melting pot is our culture.

Yes. I believe the U.S. has culture. In fact, I also believe the U.S. has a couple of different cultures (and i'm not just referring to the cultures of immigrants, I mean "subcultures").

Basically, if you ever travel to someplace and think to yourself. 'Huh - they do things differently here than what i'm used to" - I consider that a culture.

To say America doesn't have a culture always seemed a little shortsighted to me - because it almost implies that America is just "normal" and the rest of the world is "weird" with all their different ways of doing things. No - America is just as weird. We're not special.

And American culture isn't somehow intrinsically bad or good either. It's just a culture like any other.

That's just how I look at it though.

America is just a big bowl of chex mix with mountain dew instead of milk.

Apparently cross dressing is brave, the police are the bad guys, confederate flags=racism, stomping on flags is ok and marriage to anything you want is acceptable. Pretty awesome "culture" we have.

Unless you count stealing/ruining/whitewashing other cultures as American culture then no.

You can't steal or ruin culture, only borrow and adapt. It's how we make progress. With globalization it's inevitable.

Then what is this

:/

The first two I completely agree with(especially white people wearing Rastafarian stuff) but Iggy is Australian and is ripping off a style and culture of music invented in America.

Oh yeah huh.
Can't say ripping off, more like...making it seem bad & making white people think that's what rapping is: Speaking in gibberish and spitting on ur mic.

Yeah, but all that music technically originated from other countries that sorta developed into its own thing.
Edit:
I'm not trying to say we have no culture whatsoever. But since this is like, the immigrant country from various parts of the world, I don't like to see America in itself as a culture. Because I feel its grouping together the different & huge variety of the different cultures created here, that obviously everyone in the country isnt all a part of. and just saying "American culture" I see it as watering down all the cultures that reside here that I find to be very great, rich, and unique.
If that makes sense.

Okay I understand that more but while I do agree that America is made up of multiple cultures and doesnt have one uniform culture I dont think that influence and intermingling of these cultures is a bad thing or watering down. I would call white artists covering African American artists songs in the 50s to appeal to white audiences watering down the culture but I would not call Jamacian DJs using samples of American funk, and R&B to create Hip-Hop a watering down of either culture.

Oh yeah I'm not really trying to say it is.
Idk. What it really is is probably just how people refer/look at America. And just calling it "American culture" I feel seems like people are watering down the cultures that reside here.

Only because the cultures in America I feel are very unappreciated/looked down upon mostly due to the dumb stereotypes due to mostly white Americans tbh. I guess what makes me say that is the people who wanna actually try to go off the stereotypes.
I think I can see where you're coming from with that. And yeah, I agree with white people watering down cultures they can get their hands on. Very annoying :/

One culture that defines the U.S.?
No.
No more than any other country has just one, defining, culture.
I do think, however, that the U.S. has several cultures that are more or less unique to it.
Unique enough that, even when exported, are still identified as "American", to a greater or lesser degree.

No offense but I still don't see why people get legitimately upset when a US flag is getting burned or stomped on or w/e but its A-OK to wear it?

Its hard to have your own culture when your a multicultural nations of immigrants.
That's only been around a couple hundred years. If I had to point to one defining
"trait" I'd say our "culture" has is that we are rebellious to authority for better or
worse.
