MOSTLY it's when they think they ARE Japanese and rather not just watching anime or such. Being into the culture is good and all; but unless you keep your own culture and not lets say "replace" it you wont be a weeaboo.

(yes I've seen weeaboos call other people weeaboos when they're not)

Does that make me an Americanboo if i move to america and drop my Australian culture and take up theres though?

Have to ask the real questions :)

Sure, why not

"Ultimately most arguments I see for hating on weeaboos consist of "They are always up in my face about anime and their Japanese stuff". That would be a logical point if I had actually ever experienced it."

I fail to see how that would be a "logical point" to me if someone is in your face about anime they are an "anime elitist" but if someone talks to me casually about anime and games and japanese stuff i would say they are an otaku like me. But if all the talk about is "japanese stuff" then they are just obessed with japanese culture. which theres nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER if all they talk about is "japanese stuff, speak random japanese words in an english sentance such as BAKA,SENPAI etc etc, AND their room is set up like a japanese room then they are a weaboo. But this just my opinon.

It's an insult, straight up. You can say it's all in jest or that it's just used jokingly, but it's still an insult.

It's also a word used to distance one from someone else who's often similar but who they don't want to be associated with. The same thing pops up with words like gamer, nerd or jock. I mean, I play videogames but I'm not a gamer! Or, I've been to see every Marvel movie and Batman movie but I'm not, you know, a nerd! Weeaboo is often used in the same way as this but in regards to anime/manga.. and it's really pretty silly. Just own up to what you like and admit that you're not really all that different from others who often like similar things. Do some people maybe take their interest a little too far? Sure you could say that, but you're also imposing your judgement of what "too far" is and that's not really a fair thing to do. Everyone has their own reasons for liking what they do as much as they do. It's, quite frankly, none of your business.

Is pretty much a hate word.

Like ppl use Ni***r or fa**et, the "N" word can be used among the same group or not. But no matter how ppl try to "defend" its most """""pure""""" definition of it, normally is used to tag other ppl that are slightly different from the mainstream way of be or think. And not like the defenders of the word explain that is for "these extreme japanese culture worshippers assholes" only.

"You are different from me because I noticed you watched an anime episode instead of that awesome football game??? Ha!, weeaboo"

"Oooo, your ipod playlist has ONE japanese song among other 500 "normal" songs??? Ha!, weeaboo"

"I heard you rather drink green tea instead of beer or soda... Ha!, weeaboo"

"Do you want to study abroad and you dare to want to go to Japan and you're properly learning the language??? Ha!, speak only in english, you fu***ng weeaboo!"

That pretty much sums it up.

just ignore them

Eh. Idc.
Why should I? Honestly otaku is no better either. People who legitimately get offended being called a weeaboo probably do like anime a little too much...like a weeaboo.

Anime has it flaws. I can see why people wouldn't like it or make fun if you for them as well.

More like people who frequent sites like 4chan or reddit or just part of almost any nerdy thing know what a weeaboo is.

Either way, ur both losers.
Hence why I think people shouldn't even take this term too seriously or get upset when people call them that.

Weeaboo's are idiots who have something like a Japan fetish. Being an anime fan doesn't make you a weeaboo.
Littering your language with phrases like baka, kawaii, ahou, kusou, shine and other words you picked up from anime makes you a weeaboo.
