anyone else having a hard time really looking forward to watching any of the new shows this summer season???

I usually have several I really enjoy and can't wait for the next episode each week, this summer there are only two of the new shows that even remotely have me looking forward to watching, Gate here and Gangsta on Funi.

There just seems to be all rehashes of the same type shows with different character names... maybe I'm just getting burned out... hell, I'm rewatching Terraforners just to pass the time

Prison School is the most original anime I have ever seen
Snow white with red hair I think is my sleeper pick for best show of summer
Gangsta is like a grown-up anime no school any where in site no uniforms only organized crime, drugs a hoe or 2 and fighting to the death
Gate is slowly progressing thank god its 24 episodes
Venus Project Climax- idols meets mecchi to battle kinda different with some real voice actors also having a contest
I am happy some shows are still going like Food Wars and My Love Story helps my Queue

I think it turned out to be a good season, there's a bunch of simulcasts I'm following, which hasn't been the case recently. And tons of titles on backlog, there's never a lack of stuff to watch.

That's my reaction to about every season, that consists of like 2 action anime and 50 slice of life/romcoms that I don't care about (of course I'm exaggerating but it feels like that every season). This season though looked a slight bit more promising to me though, but I haven't gotten around to watching much.

If you want comedy, Wagnaria is always a good watch. Charlotte is also at the top of my list.
If you want action, Rokka is far better than I expected.

Of course, it comes down to taste. I, personally, am not a fan of anything with a lot of gore. Some gore is fine, but I don't have a strong stomach for it.

I have to agree with those who find this to be a strong season. There's a few great shows, and a supporting cast of really strong ones. I do find that they're oddly scheduled throughout the week so I definitely don't have something I watch every day but there are some days where I'm watching 3 or 4 different shows. In fact, this is probably the strongest overall season I can think of in recent memory.

Nah it's not just you. This has been a really rough season for me, too. I love Gangsta and I like Ushio to Tora. I am also caught up on God Eater, Rokka no Yuusha and one episode behind on Gate but I feel those shows are just OK.

On the bright side the Fall lineup is looking really good to me so it's just a waiting game.

You're probably just burned out.

We get a thread like this every single season.

Personally, I think the summer line up is one of the best we've had in a while, actually. Far better than the previous two seasons, that's for sure. However, that's just me of course.

Not only are there a lot of shows catered to my tastes (NNB, Umaru, School-Live!), but there are also a lot of show from genres I don't even like that, surprisingly, I actually enjoy.

Great season for me!

I think this has been the best season I've personally experienced. However, that is a very subjective matter.

Honestly it's just one's opinion. For me, I'm enjoying about 15(ish) anime this season. I got at least one show every day to look forward to. In fact, the last couple seasons have been quite enjoyable for me. Others think this season is a clunker and that's fine. If everyone was the same it would be boring.

Fall is also looking mighty fine. Not as many as this season that I'm interested in, but it's still shaping up to be a good season.

Well I sort of am but not because of the shows are bad cause they really arent. I still havnt fully transitioned from spring and after watching Love Live but there are shows for summer that I cant wait to watch every week. Also the Arizona summer heat isnt making my viewing anymore comfortable.

I'm watching more this season than the last two combined.

It can come down to what kind of anime you like though, there are some bloggers despairing of this season.

Well, in spring there were 10 shows that I quite liked and looked forward to, and in summer (so far), there are 14 (2 of which are continued from spring), so summer is slightly ahead so far. Mind you, this could easily change.

In spring, there were 15 shows I either dropped outright or watched to the end and regretted not dropping, and so far this summer I've dropped 8, with 3 on the chopping block right now. Going by these likes and dislikes, summer is slightly ahead.

One thing I have noticed is that all of those shows I've dropped this season or regretted from last season had either high school settings/characters or harems, or both, so clearly I've reached my limit with this sort of thing (with some exceptions, naturally).

So, to answer your question, I'd say no, the summer season isn't disappointing (so far).
