To clarify, yes I have shows I watch every day and enjoy watching them, but my point was specifically the new shows this summer, not the entire summer series currently running.

There are currently 7 shows that are continuations from previous seasons or long running shows that I look forward to and can't wait to see each week.

And only 2 maybe 3 new shows that I really want to watch each week, yeah, I'm adding Ushio & Tora to my list after a day of thought and reviewing what is all on my queue...

I may have had the same feeling towards different seasons in the past but didn't think to much on it due to catching up on some older shows, but I am certain that after 5 weeks of the summer schedule I've probably dropped half of the new shows I added

It sounds like we have similar tastes. It's just not our season. It happens. *shrug*

I'm following 10 new shows as well as 5 ongoing shows. After weeding out all the shows that I didn't like or that I liked, but not enough to keep in my tight schedule. So that's 10 new shows and 5 ongoing shows that I like A LOT. Some of them I anticipate are going on my list of favorite anime. Seems like a great season to me.

It could be that it might be your distinct taste, cause for me most of the anime this season are far from rehashed. Below is my current top 10 anime of this summer, which are ironically all new to the screen this summer.

My spectrum for anime might be a bit vast or narrow depending on preferences. Given, a few of the titles I have listed might not be for you and others (save the ones you mentioned), but are at least worth a try.

1. Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Seka
(Its one of the craziest, funniest, and most unique anime I've seen, it takes what you think you know about high school life anime and throws it out the window with over the top madness, in a good way. Not a place for ecchi haters however.)
2. Overlord
(Fresh new take on RPG/Fantasy anime with a completely different MC. Starts off a bit slow for some, but is beginning to speed up and contains quite the heavy story telling narrative.)
3. GATE: Jieitai Kanochi Nite Kaku Tatakaeri
4. GANGSTA.
5. Prison School

(Probably the weirdest anime of the season, which also takes what you know about school life anime and throws it out the window. Not for those expecting heavy story telling, and the ecchi may seem ridiculous if you've never heard or read the manga.)
6. Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
(Most unique harem anime you'll ever see, where the MC isn't a dense high school student. Given it's in the harem category, it'll have tons of ecchi, which may not be for you.)
7. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
(Different from the rest of the my list, it's a shoujo(?) anime in a fantasy setting. Our MC is not your typical shoujo heroine, as she knows how be independent and strong. It is one of the most natural romances with no headache inducing one sided loves, dense airheads, love triangles, Narcissistic/Sadistic D-bag male leads, nor weak minded lead girls we all love to hate in the genre.)
8. Rokka no Yuusha
(A fantasy anime with an interesting MC who isn't OP or annoying, save for his favorite one-liner though. Story telling is pretty straight forward, but some may find the pacing too slow for their taste.)
9. Ushio to Tora
(Reboot of a supernatural manga and ova from from the early 90's, its interesting in its own right with the classic art style from the nostalgia era for anime veterans and enough goodness for newer audiences.)
10. Charlotte
(A slow paced supernatural high school anime that may seem redundant for some, but is supposed to get heavy real soon.)

Yep, I watch all of these shows and with the exception of Monster Musume enjoy them, but out of all these 3 are waiting for the countdown, cold beer at hand, the rest of the world stops cause I'm watching them, the others I watch because they're there when I need them...

Granted, a few of these could make my "favorite new anime" list with a couple of good episdes

Did a headcount for science. Ranks are of course personal and rather arbitrary.

Doesn't mean this season has to work for everybody, but I'm getting a fair bit out of it so far.

I've been waiting for someone to say this. I knew the lineup was disappointing before it even started. It was pretty obvious right off that nothing any good or original was coming, so I let my paid membership lapse. There is no reason to have a monthly bill if I'm in no hurry to watch; uh, maybe one or two new shows. And what I watched was god-awful. It's getting to the point where anime has become a parody of itself.

It's just more of the same... the majority of anime used to be about action now it's about lame comedy with the same dumb chibi or funny face and self-referencing otaku in-jokes, all things that probably bemuse a 15 year old, but honestly I'm getting too old and cranky for this crap.
I've had to turn back a few years and pick out the few bright jems that I missed before.

The problem is if you're just now noticing this trend, you're in for a rough ride because it's not going to get better next season or next.
There will only ever be one or two real standouts each season (at most) and sometimes none; as the vast majority of anime churned out of the machine is pretty much the same thing with different names over and over and over again. I almost wonder why they waste the time and money making it, but every season there are people who list 20+ shows that they sit in front of the computer day-in-and-day-out watching- and it must be the same thing in Japan. When you have consumers who mindlessly watch anything you put out without end, you don't have much of a reason to alter the product.

Charlotte and Wagnaria!! are the new series that make the season for me -- anything else worth watching is just gravy. But it is worth noting that GATE, Gangsta and Overlord hold no appeal for me. So as they say "variety is the spice of life"... or "to each their own".

I thought EXACTLY the same thing, almost word for word! Charlotte and Wagnaria are, for me, the ultimate kickers of this season. Angel Beats was my true gateway anime, so I was drawn to Charlotte right away. As for Wagnaria, it's eternally funny.

Wagnaria (Working) isn't what I consider a new show, its a continuation, not directly from the Spring but a continuation none the less. So each of you have only the one A+, gotta watch show and you don't consider that a disappointment?

Isn't your problem simply the fact that you want action packed shows? If you look at this season, most shows with action in them actually have more important tags than action. Some dives in politics, other into mysteries, other into world building... Resulting in episode with little action.

But then I'll ask you this. You look down at what you don't like, like comedy and such, and say " that probably bemuse a 15 year old, but honestly I'm getting too old and cranky for this crap". Do you seriously believe that action packed shows are for an older audience than a slice & life/comedy? Really? Do you seriously think that action packed shows are for an older audience than mystery shows? Really? I can understand the idea of saying that of ecchi shows (why not) and Moe (why not), but that's hardly the only things you're finding out this season.
So far gangsta looks like a gangster version of a slice and life (O_o) which is quite original, GATE features interesting mix of fantasy and modern settings and dabble here and there in politics and the like for its own world building, RnY is the most audacious scenario we had in 2015 so far, with a fantasy setting being used for a proper closed room mystery as well as a psychological jinrou game set in an enclosed space, Akagami no shirayukihime is a rare shoujo adaptation with a capable and likeable MC, Gakkou Gurashi may be moe but it's a survival horror which makes it quite a rare type as far as anime goes as well. Gatchaman Crowds Insight actually dabble into politics right now rather than action, so we got quite the curved ball there as well.
Then we have slice and life gems like Non non biyori, which is clearly adult oriented in the way it's down (the manga is seinen muke, and that can be seen easily).

And I haven't tried more than half of the shows airing this seaosn.

How can you say good things are rare or that "it's always the same thing"?
Isn't that more like "among the things you like, the good/original titles are very few in numbers" ? You seem to reject a lot of content as being "bad" or "childish", but isn't that just you not liking them to begin with? Everyone has its own taste and I'm not blaming you for them obviously, but aren't you mistaking the real cause of your current situation with anime?

Just realized we have no mechas this season; if you're into shounen action I guess it will come up light. We have some seinen and then other shows with action elements but not much straight out of the shounen handbook this season.

I means there's God Eater but responses to that have been mixed.

Personally I get about one A+ every two years.

Absolutely -- I don't get even one A+ show often (continuation or not). For 2015 I had none at all until this season -- So getting two in one season is very very rare.

My Last A+ show was One Week Friends -- which was a Spring 2014 show. The closest others were Rage of Bahamut and Saekano -- and both of those were not quite A+ for me ( I only consider something A+ if it is a "must purchase").
