There seems to be this mentality in Europe and in America where GMOs are the most vile and evil thing to have ever been invented. GMOs won't kill you, they are scientifically safe, and they produce better crops. They are crucial now in a world where millions of people go hungry and the climate is rapidly changing. Opponents having been lobbying against GMOs for a quite a while now and what has happened is that GMO creation is now limited to a few large corporations (Monsanto ), the last thing everyone wants. Being against GMOs is equivalent to being an anti-vaxxer.

If you're still skeptical about GMOs, this is a very good video on the topic:

The problem lies in the fact that companies, like Monsanto, that engineer GMO's patent the strains of crops they produce. It's very difficult to distinguish GMO seeds from normal ones. When farmers are caught, or trapped rather, growing a patented strain they are forced to pay or sued, usually into bankruptcy. Also, I'm not entirely sold on the fact that they're 'safe' or safe on the environment. From a sustainability point of view, mono-cropping is a very risky way to go about agriculture. I'm no expert, though,.

I don't think that's true at all. The most common GMO crops are corn and soy, both of which aren't produced to be directly food. They're used for foodstuffs like HFC's. So if all people are eating around the world are Cheeto's and cola, then yeah millions will starve.

Organic agriculture is not efficient enough to feed the numbers of people that currently exist. Gmo crops use less water and produce higher yields without them we could not sustain our current population.

Long term effects of GMOs are unknown. We're already guinea pigs for many things though.

Enough food can be produced for people using conventional methods (not necessarily organic). The problem is a due to distribution, not production. There's a reason why there's lobbyists and subsidies for corn etc. farmers. Most of the time they don't even turn a profit, but are forced into these contracts and massive debts to keep producing GMO crops. It's all business. That's all it is.

I personally think gmo crops are fine health wise. I don't buy the vegan propaganda that it is killing us and the planet however you are right there is a distribution problem with food. However organic agriculture will not sustain the numbers of people that currently exist. If you want to have a discussion on how to reduce the excess population humanly I am all ears but something tells me population control is to taboo to be discussed here.
