Have you ever ate fish served with the head? I didn't think it was a big deal until I noticed that there are some people who have never tried it. Is it because It looks intimidating? It tastes good, but it's probably not something I'd bring to a potluck

I had fish served with the head in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. It was pretty delicious. I ate everything but the head and eyes of course, though some people do eat that stuff.

I have eaten fish with both head and no head, it doesn't seam like a biggie to me. Other people probably don't like the thought of the eyes starring right back at them when eating

edit: or the lack of eyes...

Yes, since my mom loves eating the head. She also eats the eyes.

Although not technically a fish, when I was younger, I had gone to visit my grandmother in France...being young-ish and not fluent enough in French, I ordered the one thing I recognized on the menu, shrimp. So...the waiter brings out a plate with about 24 shrimp...with their heads still on...and my mind just kind of freaks out. I lose all ability to speak French and my grandmother asks me what's wrong...and...well, like out of a bad 80's movie, I try to mime and describe (in English) why I'm freaked out...my grandmother, however, wasn't phased by this and said here's what you do, and she proceeded to cut off the head of a shrimp and suck the insides out. I about vomited all over the place...for about 2 years afterwards, I couldn't eat shrimp at all.

That's my mother's favorite way of serving fish!
I always take afterwards though because we eat the fish with our fingers

The head makes it seem more like a living thing and less like a hunk of meat, so doing this with many creatures disturbs some people, especially squeamish Americans.

Fish heads are good. I like eating the eyeballs. The cheek flesh and parts of the fish collar can also be pretty flavorful.

I grew up eating fish with the head, and depending on the fish, I may or may not eat the eyeballs.

Yeah alot/some of the Asian restaurants in the city here serve whole fish, including the head.
I've been to some with my Asian work mates and you can pick the fish out of the tank and they come show it to you in a bucket before they cook it.
I dont think anyone ever ate the eyes balls though. Not that i remember. I dont have a problem with it, just pick at what you want and leave the head alone.

I don't like the idea of eating a animal, THAT LOOKS LIKE A FRIKIN ANIMAL!!!

I couldn't stand eating octopus for that exact reason :/

I wouldn't say I'm squeamish around food that seems like a living thing, I just don't feel right picking at a animals face :/
