Im on the pc often, i breeze thru comments to see some good comments. The minute i see a poor/bad comment i wanna tear their heads off, A simple block/squelch user(s) button. that way i can also block others giving spoilers and alerting me about the spoiler.

There is an unofficial extension written by one of the mods, if you use the Chrome browser, that allows you to block seeing specific users (among having other useful CR related features). You can read about it here: /group/Beardfists_Programming_Corner

Lol, I forgot that I made it kinda work on comments. Now I have to improve it so that it isn't super bad.

Edit: Alright, now it actually will hide the user right off instead of whatever crazy stuff it did before (at least in comments)

I've been asking for a built in ignore button that is standard on all forum software since the dawn of time.

That is overstating it quite a bit, since neither is close to true.

I'm on a number of other forums, none of which appear to have such a block function. I've also been around since the concept of forums originated, and I can assure you that function didn't exist in the early days.

WBS chat had it in 1995. Pretty sure Ars had it in 1997, as well as Delphi in 1996. It's been the standard for around 20 years yeah?

Forums have been around longer than the mid 90's. (WBS chat is older, but isn't a forum).

"Standard" implies widespread. If it were so, then you should have no problem pointing out at least a single well known anime-related forum that has it (which still would be rather far from making it "the standard").

Usually when someone extremely exaggerates the claims related to their argument, it means they have no confidence in their argument being able to stand on the actual facts. It doesn't mean the argument is bad, only that the person making it feels they can't make a convincing argument with inflating their case.

My Anime List allows you to hide/block topics.

That's not the same as being able to block posts from specific user(s), however.

Personally, I would like to see the user block function implemented, which is part of why VZ68 making over-exaggerated claims pisses me off. Such tactics hurt more than they help.

I am on many forums and most of them have ignore buttons. Can't disagree that this one needs it as well. Do you not visit forums that have this as well?

I don't visit as many as I used to, but I can't recall a single one I currently visit that has a ignore user function (although I have seen the ignore/hide topic function at more than one site).

*eats popcorn*

I gave a list of site, but alas they got removed.

So instead of trying to cut me down, join forces and let's get this done.
