bullied for liking anime

I would ask them to stop. I know what it feels like to be bullied for being/appearing 'geekish', so I most definitely dislike that behavior and would try to stop it if I can.

My newly met friend back in school had this happen, first time he had saw me while it happened, and after laughed it off like it was no big deal...The next time I waited till after school because I had to stay out of trouble, seen them and they spoke some shit and things got ugly. They never bothered him again, but now I was the one who apparently had 'people after me' hah. That day never came.

Think they would have bullied him even if he didn't like anime. Your friend laughing it off the first time you saw it happen tells me that he might have some timid personality. You, they didn't really have to bully you as your nature (confident and self assured you may be) doesn't repulse them, that's what i'm betting on lol.

It's more to do with people in a group think their tough until you smack them back to reality. They feel so comfortable in their little shell along with their retard friends picking on someone after once again, being comfortable with the idea this person won't fight back.

Yes, i don't doubt they'd usually have little to no reason to bully someone except to assure their dominance. Of course, it's pathetic, same as beating down someone who can't get up.

okay honestly I was bullied a lot as a kid but now a days you're not bullied for being "nerdy", you're bullied for being a prick. "nerdy" people can be some of the most awful and stuck up people you'll meet.

I wouldn't do anything. I'm sure they wouldn't deserve my help. Everyone in this country is a bigot.

I'm not saying that they don't, but I feel like "nerds" make it a bigger issue than it actually is sometimes.

If someone was being bullied for liking anime, I'd talk to the fan and become friends with them. Then if the bully came to mess with them we'd continuing doing what we were doing, ignoring a rude person is the best thing to do.

Depends. If they're bitching about how Naruto is the best anime in the world or something like that, then I'd just join in or if they're doing something thats a disgrace to anime hell I would too

That really depends on the specifics of the situation. How many bullies are there? Are they known to be violent? Could they overpower you? Etc. etc. We all like the whole heroic act but there are some points where it'll cause you both more harm than good. Ultimately, if I saw a friend being bullied for that, if it was physical abuse I'd go look for help, if they were insulting them I'd sit it out and ask them afterwards if they wanted me to intervene in any way. If not then I'm not going to force my way in, if they did want me to then I'd have to see where things went from there. When it comes to bullying, situations and the people involved are different; there's no 'one size fits all' solution that can fix every problem. Sometimes a wack will get them to back off, others even simply words or reporting them can get them to back down, and simultaneously both can also backfire.

Ultimately I don't think being bullied for liking anime specifically changes anything in terms of dealing with bullying. Whether it's because of a film they like, or a game, or a song, or how they look, bullying is bullying, and there's no bona fide correct or incorrect way of dealing with it, that'll come down to how things start playing out when the time comes. Mostly common-sense will kick in at that point. If they're being verbally abusive I trust you won't run in with a baseball bat and start cracking heads, and if they're physically threatening them as a pack with, I trust you won't try waltzing on over and saying 'A heh. Hey guys, um, I couldn't help but notice you're threatening my friend there. How about we all just calm down and deal with this in a rational manner?' because you'll likely end up with your anus where your lungs were. Assess the situation and act accordingly. If you're really stuck for what to do and your mind's all over the place, don't be afraid to try and find help from someone else.
