Hell All,

Is there any anime that has aired recently that comes close to something as intriguing and thought-stimulating as Monogatari, The Tatami Galaxy, Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, or maybe even RahXephon? More adult-oriented on the cerebral level?

Your recommendations are welcome, thanks!

Parasyte the Maxim. Although at surface value it is simply a gory action series with a solid plot, it asks some metaphysical questions throughout the series about humanity, our purpose, and what it is that keeps us alive. If you put thought into this series, it will give thought back. Most other series that come to mind aren't recent.

You can just click on the "Edit" link in your post to fix things like that.

BTW, I've moved this to our Advice, Info, Recommendations forum. (For future reference, it's located under the "Crunchy Connections" section of the main forum page.)

Serial Experiments Lain: Thought-provoking and bizarre

Eureka Seven: Starts off a shounen mecha series, but ends up having a lot to say about environmentalism, family, love, and the dehumanizing effects of violence

Steins; Gate: An extremely clever show about time-travel and causality.

Natsuyuki Rendezvous: About mourning, love, and "letting go".

Welcome to the N.H.K

Deals with a lot of psychological issues like depression, suicide, and other problems with young adulthood while having enough lighthearted humor to not be too heavy. I highly recommend as it is my personal favorite anime.

Death Note

Super popular and you've likely seen but this does pose some philosophical questions on the morality of killing criminals and the question of what people would do with absolute power.

Steins; Gate

A masterpiece of a time travel mind fuck that handles the concept better than anything i've ever seen. I have seen it twice and still can't find any plot loopholes.

Fate Zero http://www.crunchyroll.com/fatezero

The first half of this doesn't really pose any philosophical questions but the second half dives deeply into the concept of act utilitarianism (only doing what benefits society as a whole most even if it means doing things that leave individuals worse off) with a character that takes actions that would seem entirely immoral based on traditional values but actually have the greatest benefit to humanity of all the actions that he could take.
