It's 4 am and I feel like going into something deep but I have no one to talk to about it xD

My question to you all is, what is love? From a young age, we are told by our parents, "You must love us, you must love your siblings, and you must love God. And you must do it voluntarily and not because I told you so." Or when a couple gets married, they are expected to love each other unconditionally.

But is this a fallacy? In my opinion, love that doesn't flow freely, and is forced, is not authentic, therefore is no longer love. Every single one of us knows this yet mysteriously we choose to ignore it, because it goes against the "rules" of life, as if their were any rules to begin with. Somehow, society has come to the conclusion that human nature can't be trusted because it might disappoint us.

Because if you put your trust in someone and love them, you come to the risk of having your heart broken or them not fulfilling your expectations. Or in the earlier example, you fear that if you don't force yourself to love your parents, there runs the risk that you won't love them. But I feel like this risk has to be taken. Consider the alternative, you force yourself to display unauthentic love, which is nothing more than an act, and you spend your whole life full of resentment and unhappiness to force something that isn't there.

In the exact same way, you can go to a school to learn how to draw manga and art perfectly, but if you don't have something to express, you can never make a good story. Or if someone goes to school to learn the techniques to make music. You can learn all the techniques, but you can never teach someone how to be creative, because creativity is love and it can only flow out freely.

That's why the arts are really important, yet schools minimize the arts and have less and less classes about them.
As Alan Watts said, "Love that is not expressed, will come out in the form of self destruction."

Deep lol.

I feel weird about my parents. I love my mom but I don't really like the type of person she is. We aren't the same and I can't really talk to her. On the other hand I don't really care about my dad but I still have that love for him because he is my father.

Society hasn't come to the conclusion that human nature can't be trusted, it's just that we really can't be trusted. Society today is just full of people who cheat and people who can't love.
It's just how it is.

Love is being able to imagine someone completely naked and either be accepting of it or stimulated by it.

I explained it in a post before. (Instead of asking, I was telling- Or was trying to)

Same sort of stuff happened to that thread. Don't worry about it.

Six feet under pretty much explains what love is. Rough quote...

You sell that shit to somebody who's buyin' it cause I ain't. You don't know nothin' about love. Some pretty little thing catches your eye, and the next thing you know it's been 56 years and you've shit all over yourself in the movie theatre, and she the only one to help you clean it up. That's love.

That, my friend, is what love is.
