what's this live stream??????

During some conventions Crunchyroll sets up a camera near their booth, and streams it on crunchyroll with a chat feature. Most often it's a way to see some cosplayers and interact with them, but at bigger cons Crunchyroll does some "stage events" such as interviews, or cosplay contests, and at one con we got to watch the mangaka who does Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches draw, and ask questions.

These normally get announced in Site News, and when it's going on there will be a small video in the corner of the home page, with a link that goes to the full page with chat -- here's the link (but of course right now there is no stream, just a placeholder left over from the Rooster Teeth Expo: /live

Occasionally they livestream a little viewing party, where some of the staff are watching and commenting on one of the shows that CR has, and we can watch it with them and chat. I'm not sure where that gets announced (facebook or twitter maybe?) because I'm usually completely unaware that it's happening.

when it happens next can someone PM me?

I think maybe you have to hire a personal assistant for that.

Just keep an eye on Site News, or just take a look in the upper left of the homepage when you are on on on weekends. When we do have them they usually start Friday afternoon for a few hours, and run from morning (9 or 10 am) to evening (6 -7 pm-ish) on Saturdays; slightly shorter hours on Sundays--times I mention are local to wherever the con is and depend on a con's exhibit/dealer's room hours. They are more frequent during summer, but there's usually a couple in September and October. Pretty quiet during winter, but start back up in Spring.

I guess I'll have to stop sharing my blog posts on Crunchyroll. Lesson learned.

No no no. That's not true!!

I hope you had a chance to see my response after I closed your thread. We love you to share your blog, just not in "General Discussion" (use "Enthusiasts' Corner") and don't start a separate thread for every blog entry.

If you make blog entries pretty frequently that you'll want to share with Crunchyroll, go ahead and start a whole thread in Enthusiasts' Corner with a more appropriate title that invites folks to generally visit your blog. As you write blog entries that you especially want to share, you can then add new posts to that thread to keep us up to date on what you're doing.

Don't worry: I posted that reply right before I read your reply on my new thread. I moved the link to my old thread.

Have you noticed that many individuals have been banned lately ? Is this marking a more aggressive approach to the moderators enforcement of Crunchy Rolls forum guidelines or not?Much needed or excessive? What are your thoughts?

There needs to be a list of people banned and what reason they're banned.

Otherwise, other people wouldn't know why, and half of the point of enforcement is gone. It better to teach behavior by letting people know the boundaries beforehand rather than after the fact.

On the Love Live Wikia, people being banned always appear on a list along with reasons. That's a much better approach.

Besides one person, I didn't even notice that others were banned, much less knowing what they were banned for.

love the idea of Hall of Shame... where people's names getting written down along with the reasons.

but idk if that will have the opposite effect. like some ppl might want to compete to see who can get the most bans.

a lot of people online have the mentality of grade school kids.

Yep. We've done something similar on the forum I administrate. The problem with calling people out publicly is it's a form of shaming and often causes people to publicly lash out over privately. It doesn't work out well.

...Then CR would simply do the same thing that some Wikia groups do- Permanently ban repeat candidates (and also ban any account found to be dupes of perma-banned ones). They can watch all the anime, but no forums for them.

p.s. Personal attacks should be disallowed whether they're "sincere attacks" or not. Argue against the idea, not attacks on the person. People should be taught that concept.

The lunatic fringe took over General Discussion and made it into a Facebook-news-feed-worthy level place of SJW angst and trolling.

So really. It's not the mods fault, it's the communities for not being able to really handle losing Extended Discussion.

Not only that, but the timing for losing Extended Discussion was really unfortunate since social media's outrage culture is right now worse than it's ever been before, and is continuing to spiral downwards more and more by the day. If we had lost Extended Discussion even as less as two years ago we wouldn't nearly see General Discussion being what it is now. Such are the times we now live in.

----

As far as the changes to Crunchyroll's moderation is concerned, I think Baker did a good job of reworking the rules. The previous rule set looked like they were written out by a 15 year old girl on a fan forum. They were nothing but unprofessional looking nit/picking.

Well, I'm about to report one for being unfair on a stupid thread made over and ovet and over. Yeah, my post was flagged because I said their name. Not once did I bully or harass them. So, mod comes and deletes shit, ok, Im fine with that. What I'm not fine with is enabling OP and an others by making them look righteous or some shit while Im made to be the aggressor, because of her own(the mod)discriminatory bias. No, I don't think mods are all powerful nor do I fear them. I am not going to kiss their ass, I am going to have to talk to someone about this
