Well, I was about to play FFXIV last night and the startup page has this ad for something called the Moonfire Faire. Its going to be around for several weeks. I noticed the city I'm currently in has paper lanterns everywhere and fireworks going off. Are there special quests that can only be done during the Moonfire Faire? What about events like parades? Are there any other special events that Square Enix has besides this one?

Aft castle in Limsa Lominsa gives you the quest to start it. You can basically trade fish in for tokens to buy swimsuit gear, yakuzas, kimonos and a lot of other traditional clothing.

I really wish I could play this on my Mac, too bad the version they released was all buggy. I had a lot of jobs really high leveled and I wanted to raise them to the new cap. FFXIV has lots of special events, they're always pretty fun. The funnest one in my opinion so far was the egg hunting event where everyone ran around as Spriggans battling giant eggs. That was interesting.

Moonfire is the annual summer faire, and it also corresponds with the games anniversary. There are a number of things going on outside of the game like a hairstyle design contest and anniversary live stream this weekend. Within the game, there's.. well, not that much going on. As Aeso said, there's a quest in Limsa Lomina to get you started on things and most of the actual event takes place in Costa Del Sol. There's a bunch of FATEs around the beach as well as a couple of repeatable quests that you can use to earn yourself some summer faire tokens. The tokens can be exchanged at the vendor located in the same stall as the repeatable quest givers. As for what you can buy with the tokens, it's all about the cosmetics. There's a bunch of swim suits, yukata, consumable items and a housing decoration or two. It's mostly really nice stuff and may be well worth your time but is purely cosmetic.

That's about it, though I'd advise checking with your servers forum section on the FF14 site to see if there may be other player organized activities going as well.

As for whether there are other events like this one, there are (though this is my first personally). Search for FF14 seasonal events and you'll see there's pretty much one every 2 or 3 months all with different stuff to collect and different activities.

I was at the castle and I found someone who said he wanted to reignite the festival. However, he said I had to be at least level 30. Looked around the castle for other Moonfire Faire related stuff and this was all I can find. Am I overlooking anything else?

It's a summer festival, I can't play because my sub ran out and I'm 16 so I have no source of income. All I can do is watch videos on it and get depressed.
