I think its normal to want to live in a fictional world, most people do think that to themselves and it doesn't even have to be an anime

I definitely have thought a couple times how cool it would be to live in some animes, especially Fairy Tail

I've thought about what it would be like living in an anime too, nothing strange about that

It's completely normal most people (not always anime) want to be in a fictional world because of how much more interesting or better it is

Thats kinda sad in my opinion. Getting so drawn up in fiction is unhealthy.

I wish it all the time. My life sucks, and I would much rather be able to meet characters in anime. So, no, it's not weird at all.

It's normal. Anime is usually better and more interesting than real life.

Sorry about this. A lengthy post ahead.

Being interested in and somewhat idolizing a fictional world is not necessarily a bad thing. However, I would have to agree with megahobbit a bit. Getting too drawn up in a fictional world is not healthy. If you withdraw into your hobby's fictitious world to escape your real world problems, you are probably masking the symptoms and not treating the ailment. However, I do acknowledge that anime, among other things, can be a way for us to deal with real world issues.

I have gone through the whole "my life would be better in anime/game" phase before. While it is fun to imagine doing things that we would not normally be able to do, we must remember that we live in a different world. The fictional worlds we engross ourselves with are often romanticized; meaning rules there are often bent or omitted for the sake of plot progression or theming.

My personal suggestion would be to use that desire to be in an anime to make changes to your own life. You cannot control every aspect of your life, so I suggest working on what you can control. If you are feeling lonely, perhaps you could call up some people you used to hang out with or try to find others with a common interest. Your interest in anime can lead to some potential conversations and friends.

I definitely think it's normal to get caught up in fictional worlds like that. Sure, it's unhealthy if you reach a point of neglecting everything in your life in favor of watching more anime or whatever, but it doesn't seem like that's what you meant.

I really relate to that feeling of wanting to live in a fictional world, or at least really loving it. I always feel sad when an anime, manga or book ends because I realize that I'm suddenly back in boring reality and the fact that my time in that way cooler place has ended really bums me out. D:

Yeah, if it's a fantasy setting anime. I like a nice view from the mountains, forests or whatever.

If it's normal present day stuff, then not really... since it's similar to reality already.

Nope. Anime shows are always fun, adventurous and eventful. Who doesn't want that in there life?

That is why the entertainment business ( movies, games, animation) is so profitable.
