I want to be a creator myself, and I believe I'm at the start of the learning process. for the past few years, I've been really inspired by Anime, but I don't see much creativity here in the UK, doing a jobsearch, especially in my area doesn't come up with anything with any real imagination, so my reason for turning myself towards something like cartoons/comics is that I want to do something with my own imagination and share my inspiration in my country. Have you started creating something? why?

I did start creating drawings/paintings, I still need some work on them but they're coming together nicely.

I've started a visual novel, but it's coming along very slowly because I still haven't figured out every character's ending and I have to touch up the character sketches. I've posterized all of the backdrops though, and I have the base story down. I'm currently learning Python so I can program it. The only thing I haven't really touched on yet is the sound FX and BGM.

I want to create something that reflects the possibility of living a normal, healthy life with psychosis or schizophrenia. I've been inspired to ever since I was diagnosed a few years back and have faced a lot of stigmas that I want to counter. I guess the fact that I myself don't really live a normal life (I've barely left my home since 2012) doesn't help, but I'm hoping that looking for inspiration for my game will help me get out and experience things more.

I don't know if that's a selfish reason or not, but I like to think it's not.

Everyone wants to be a creator, not everyone has what it takes.

I wish, I could be better at map making and faster also be able to remember scripts..
Since a map maker is making well most things that will bring a world with life (if you include sounds, env sounds, animations, models that has to be created)
But I end up creating stuff that is different or scenes that does not fit the rest of the world.
By different I mean creating a movable train for TF2 and capture points that has this Gondola lift to each rocket (main base capture point)

I like not having all these ideas and stuff sit around in my head and talking out of my ass about it never helps.

Eh', being a creator isn't my style. I'm mostly just an innovator and really good at ideas so I could write a visual novel. Just I can't draw at all so, yeah that would leave manga out of it really.

Wait, so creating a visual novel could be the work of a single person?

I only really have how to raise a boring gf as a reference for that one. they decided to make the series seem realistic so they were far from using one person to create a VN. I think the coding, art and script can be done by someone who can already do those. if I end up doing comics, I want to work alone and have full control, if I end up going more into animation I'd have to make a few friends! there's a ton of stuff like in-betweens, editing, music and voice acting that would be incredibly difficult for one person. of course animation/comics is the dream so I'd hope I develop a skill for drawing and maybe writing a few "false scripts" by the end of the year

It's possible, but it requires a lot of time, effort, and skill. I should know by experience. I created a visual novel for my senior project in high school. It was very incomplete, but I still got a pretty good grade on it. Except for the game engine which I acquired online (for free), I did everything myself, from the art to the code and even the (crappy) music. I only had less than a year to work on the game, but if I had a lot more time to work, I might have finished a simple visual novel game. The difficulty of making a visual novel or dating sim really depends on how complicated it's going to be. A simple story about love around five minutes long could easily be polished off in less than a week or two, depending on the standards of the work. Like if it boasts childlike drawings of the characters and background. A 40+ hour game of the same complexity but better art will take at least a couple of years, a lot more if you're writing by the seat of your pants. You can do it, no worries. All you need is a lot of effort to put in and a lot of time to work on it.

To answer the question in the thread's title, I do want to create games, especially after the I saw the Occulus Rift and Sword Art Online. As for why, well, I build plastic models for the same reason. Making one yourself is a lot more satisfying than just having it. Plus, I want to have an excuse to stay on the computer all day and buy multiple game consoles. I just chalk it up to game research and game testing.

I make music.

I would advise anyone with an urge to create to try one thing. Dungeon and Dragons.

I always wanted to create something so I could...share my madness with the world I suppose. I've started writing a comic and have several other concepts to work with when I finally finish this one. I'm not a grate (non-abstract) artist and I'm working with dyslexia by I have a friend who is a pretty good artist and with a single spellcheck everything is completely sorted. I'd like to release it as a web comic once I have the first 4 issues finalized. I recommend writing to anyone with too many ideas and a little too much time on their hands.

Create an animated series for Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and/or go read the web comic (and subsequently the web novel there after) if you haven't because the series is f'n amazing.
