Since I have seen too many "cops do ____; Public retaliates" threads. I wanted to do one for the cops. Not against.

Simple rules:
1) Post stories of nice things cops have done for you or others.
2) Stay civil.
3) Articles, stories of your own, videos, all are welcome.

So, to start it off, a nice short YouTube video on nice things cops have done.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2PT8xBAx8g

and an article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/03/cop-officer-buys-dad-baby-formula-justin-roby_n_6605752.html

and a nice little story: When I was in middle school, I had a horrible case of bullying. One day, I was reading my birthday gift (Tom Clancy's The Hunt for Red October). A kid who had given me a lot of trouble before decided he wanted to ruin my day and while I was eating lunch, tore every page out of my book and scattered this around. Needless to say I was not very happy. After venting my frustration by decking him in the face, we both got in trouble. Both the kid and I ended up with in School Suspension.

What amazed me the next day though was just this small little thing. The cop Edward Rodriguez, actually bought me a new book and gave it to me the following day. It turns out this cop was actually in charge of the case and decided to just let it go. I still talk with him to this day.

I don't really have all that much interaction with police so I can only contribute a rather small and simple story.

I deliver newspapers and as such police tend to, at least in the beginning, ask what is going on to make sure it is nothing suspicious since driving around slowly often times in circles can be a little odd. One time I was looking for a new customer and the address given was rather confusing and so quite a bit of time was spent driving around looking for it. A cop came by and asked what was going on and when he was told he offered to try and help find the place using his resources. He spent a good amount of time trying to help but, unfortunately, since the customer was an idiot when giving their address to the company we were at the time unsuccessful in finding the place. The attempt at helping was pretty cool and much appreciated though.

Gave me a warning instead of a ticket for doing a rolling stop. The officer glanced my uniform and said, "It's late and it seems that you're tired and worked really hard. I'll give you a warning this time. Next time won't be the same."

That's what I can think of that is good.

The rest is when I went to my jury duty where the cop was using other people's identities and making fraudulent credit cards. We brought him down; stated that he's guilty of 13 out 15 counts of crime.

The Police had some good songs. "Message in a Bottle" comes to mind.

I remember this story a while ago and thought it was bittersweet.

As for personal stories, when I was a kid my family had the most badass cat named (rather fittingly) Conan. Despite having no claws and being an indoor cat, he was a battle-hardened, cold-blooded killer, and was constantly leaving us dead offerings. He used to beat the crap out of dogs and I wouldn't have been shocked if I heard he'd brought down a deer and just wasn't able to drag it home.

At any rate, during one of the rabies scares at the time he killed a bat that got inside the house somehow, and he wound up having to go into quarantine. After the test results came back negative an officer from the local police department wound up coming to our home and awarding Conan with a citation. One of the officers at the department had even written him a haiku praising his valiant defense of the family.

This cat... He is truly a hero! If you have a picture of this god I would love it if you sent me it in PM

I had one named Lucky who got thrown out of a car window on a highway. We ended up picking her up and went to a near by house (ex-policeman). He gave us a little painkiller for the cat and a towel to wrap it up so she didn't bleed all over our seats. Sadly she died a few years back to some strays we were trying to save.

Your cat still destroys mine though! I mean, your cat probably took down a deer man!

As for the story: That is really sweet, and sad. I don't remember hearing about that. I wish I had before this though!

P.S. I dunno what you did, but quoting your post was impossible. I gave up trying to do it about 10 attempts!

lol, thanks.
I'll give a straight answer this time.

Three interactions with police officers that I can remember.
Two were in high school:

1. My best friend locked himself out of his house and we were trying to find a way in. Officer stopped us and took down our info on these cards because he thought we were trying to break in. Well, I can understand that from his viewpoint. We pretty much were but he lived there lol.

2. Three of us were in a friend's car driving home from school and we got pulled over and we had to show the officer our early dismissal passes from the school.

3. A few years ago I ran a red light in my neighborhood that has an abnormally, and probably illegally, short yellow. That was a nice chunk of change for that ticket, they don't take running reds lightly. I still get nervous and anticipate it turning red on me every time I approach that intersection.

Sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention and it looks like I used /link instead of /url. a little late now but I edited the post to fix it.

As for photos, it was prior to digital cameras. He was a pretty normal looking orange tabby - it was his deeds and fighting spirit that were epic. We do have photos in the family albums stashed away, but none have been digitized. Which reminds me actually that I need to do that at some point.

I was once out with my mom trying to pick grapeleaves (for a dish my mom makes) at a school and an officer came by and asked what we were doing. I said that we were picking the grapeleaves. She asked if I was helping and after I said "yes" she gave me a coupon for a free slushie! Nicest encounter ever! Not all cops are bad!

Not at all! I know many cool cops!

There was this one cop at my University I decided to tease a little bit. The joke was I have a drinking problem (I went to the campus store for grapefruit juice like 20x a day). I saw a cop behind me so I was like... what better time to bring up the joke? So I said:

"Man, I cant kick this drinking problem... I cant stop coming back!"
The cops eyes just bulged.
The Cashier said "Yea, you gotta lay off that grapefruit juice!"
The cop got a good laugh at this and said "Hey, you see my fellow cop here, he abused grapefruit juice hard, look at him... Do you want to look like him?!"
I said "Oh my god! I will stop right away! Thanks Mr. Cop!"

Later on I kept seeing him around campus so I said that and his singular reply... "I am like a ghost in the mist, you wont see me coming until I am there." with the most epic hand motions. I go drink with him every now and then.

I was going down the freeway late one night. Actually I set the cruise control to a speed that was way too high.

Highway Patrol cruiser got on me, flashed lights. I pulled over.

The conversation went like this after I rolled down the window:

Officer: Was there a reason you were going so fast? You went right by me.

Me: Sorry.

Officer: (After checking my license / reg / insurance) You need to slow down. Get back into traffic by speeding up along the shoulder and merging back in slowly.

That was it.
