Every vid on crunchyroll is loading with a black screen and never loads the show.So im stuck with nothing but a black sceen no sound no nothing. Its been this way all day. Ive went to other sides and all there vids work yet crunchyrolls dose not. Whats going on somone mess up the codec or somthing. Also yesterday all the vids lastnight were super choppy. The were so much lag they were unwatchable. Yet my internet was just fine and other sites ran perfect so i hope crunchy roll fixes the server.

What happens if you click pause, then immediately click play after that?

Doesn't do anything that's the first thing I tried. Their stream seems to be broken.

Odd... It's working fine for me in Chrome. I just watched all 7 just added episodes of Wakako-Zake, and replayed the latest non-non-biyori ep, too, all without a problem (in 720p, if that matters).

I'm experiencing the same issue with a black screen and no video. Pause/play button seems to be stuck on pause.

Win 10 with Edge browser.

Yup, also seeing this problem now. Video has been screwing up badly for a couple weeks now. If you have premium this seems to work to get it playing even with the black screen problem: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-900861/for-those-getting-constant-freezing-in-the-flash-player-premium-required

I at least partially suspect the issue is with the CDN and I have my ISP looking into it currently, although Crunchyroll isn't helping things with the low buffer they have configured on their player. Not sure what the deal with the black non-playing video is though. At least when it was just stuttering on 720P+ streams I could back it down to 480P and mostly get it working, but this latest fail is seriously annoying.

I am a premium user and still nothing works. Every time I get on Crunchyroll, every new season pretty much, there is always a few posts on the forums complaining about the poor crunchyroll service. Either issues like this or the fact that they paid for premium but are only allowed to watch 480p videos, just to name a couple.

I've done everything the CR CM suggested and then some and nothing fixed the issue. If it's not resolved by tomorrow I'll just unsubscribe and head over to Funimation.

Okay, so I've done some troubleshooting and this is what I've found.

Browser: Doesn't work at all. Chrome, Firefox, even Internet Explorer - none of them have worked. Black screen, no timer. Done all the troubleshooting steps, nothing.

PS Vita: Not working. "There was an unknown video player error. Please go back and try again."

iPhone 5c w/ Wifi: Not working. "Video Player Error: The operation could not be completed."

iPhone 5c w/ 3G: WORKS JUST FINE. I have no idea why, but the video loads and plays without any trouble (albeit at a lower quality, my signal wasn't that great). I don't know what the difference between the two is.

UPDATE: Just switched networks, and it's working just fine again. I have no idea why one network would work while the other wouldn't, but I can watch anime again at least. This does mean that this is probably not on Crunchy's side though.

Ya ive tryed every res even SD and nothing one vid did work thoe but only one at 480p rest of the res where just black screens. Porbly a Region error there server has. Not sure but i do know its on crunchyroll side not mine.

I posted this troubleshooting in another thread, I think I've found the issue- their web server isn't reliably handing out gzipped content.


Every video, every resolution, over Cable or LTE, on my Mac via Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, or my iPhone via the app, absolutely zero playback. Same video not loading issue as mentioned by the last few posts above.

Seems we've got a live one folks.

Edit: Here's the error in my console:

GET http://flash.quantserve.com/quant.swf?title=chromeless&videoID=1&media=widg…xxxxxxx%2FStandardVideoPlayer%2Eswf&use%5Fexplicit%5Fconfig=1 net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

Where the 'x's are is a bunch of stuff that looks to me like a key of some kind, so I took it out just to be safe. If a dev wants the full thing unedited, feel free to let me know.

Edit2: Doing a bit of checking around, apparently this can happen when your headers imply that the content is gzipped, then turn out not to be, or vice versa.

Hoping this gets a look soon.

same exact issue here, happened out of no where. Tried 3 different browsers, and with 2 different operating systems on my comp (win 8.1 and 10)
