Citizenship should be a difficult process and we should NOT reward those who cheat.

You're aware that this means your own citizenship could be stripped away, yes? Are you sure you want to go that route? What are you going to do when you don't pass the citizenship requirements?

The problem is that the 'no automatic birth citizenship' opens the door for even more egregious abuses of authority and power. It also doesn't address the root causes for immigration - to escape from intolerable poverty, violent crime, and an utter lack of opportunity.

I knew reading this thread was not a good idea, and my intuition was confirmed.

Of course it should. Illegal immigrants are ruining America.

you going to pick crops for 3 dollars an hour? Yeah I didn't think so

When you have a surplus of labor wages drop. If we deported the illegals wages for those occupations would climb due to worker shortages and people could make a fair wage. Illegals benefit wealthy plutocrats deport them and fuck the plutocrats.

So you want to pay $30 for a head of lettuce? Look they are doing the work most of us don't want to do and regardless of what the racist think they are not all rapist or murders.

YAY...I was wondering how long it would take for Argumentum ad Hitlerum to appear.

Like it or not, there are more than a few similarities between Trump's arguments and Hitler's early arguments.

As a side note, I also think we should get rid of the H1B work visas...I think it's atrocious that those work visas are tied to the specific job of the individual (meaning that if someone gets an H1B work visa to work at Intel, if they quit they lose their visa) and that they can legally be paid sub-minimum wage pay.

I deal with H1B1 visas from time-to-time as part of my job. They are a nasty piece of work that reduces the employee to the status of indentured servant.

I would happily pay a bit more for food if I knew legal citizens made a fair wage working those jobs. Privileged liberals like yourself might not want to work in the fields plenty of blue collar folk would if they were paid fairly. Stop supporting the ultra wealthy and actually help legal workers by deporting the illegals.

The problem is that something given has no meaning to someone who denounces their previous citizen ship if these illegals want to come into our country and make a name for themselves then let them get it through service

Ive worked 60 hours a week for 10 dollars an hour in factories and in landscaping. I have seen how the illegals have destroyed businesses that paid good wages not to mention they do sloppy work on all the jobs. I'll say it again you are screwing honest workers and supporting the ultra wealthy who benefit from this mass migration.

I think it should be revised. I've had a friend, whose parents took advantage of it. Their mother was pregnant, they were about to be born, they quickly go to america and have their kids born there. If both the parents or one of them are a citizen then i think its ok for the child to become a citizen as well. But if they arent I dont think the 14th amendment should apply to them.
