OVERWATCH!

Basically, Blizzard is working on a FPS. Although it was announced a while ago, maybe someone here will benefit from knowing this.

I'm really looking forward to this game. I find regular FPS games to be boring since they all look the same. The only ones I've played seriously are Counterstrike (the original from like....12 years ago), Gunz, and Team Fortress.

This style doesn't seem to be for everyone, but I am enjoying the trailers and all and it's honestly pretty impressive for Blizzard to make such a seamless FPS even though I don't know of any other FPS games by Blizzard.

They have been steadily going down hill in their games ever since they merged with Activision. Freemium is the new style Blizz is going now, with the exception of d3/wow/sc. Hopefully they dont go freemium on it and maybe it will turn out decent if they dont try to add WoW, Diablo, Sc elements into it.

There aren't any other fps games from Blizz, they've only made RTS's and RPGs up until this point. From the little I've seen of the style it looks like a nice rip off of TF/2.

I can see some Diablo references (mainly in Reaper, with his teleport stance and the "angel of death" thing he says). Symmetra also bears some resemblance to the D2 Sorceress. Widowmaker resembles a Starcraft ghost. McCree reminds me of Jim Raynor with the whole space cowboy theme. I wouldn't mind some references to other Blizzard games, but definitely no direct appearance-cloning. Some custom skins might be nice.

As long as I can just buy the game and don't have to pay monthly or buy in-game stuff, I'm golden. I still sort of trust Blizzard. They did a decent job of fixing the whole D3 fiasco, in my opinion.

I dont mind resemblances or va's its more of like if they add in a Zerg enemy or say add in a specific character.

I didn't like d3 it was way off course from d1-2, it just didn't feel like d3 felt more like a watered down limited wow. Basically PoE is what D3 should of been from the start.

But I'm willing to give it a try once the betas start rolling out, and i get one. Like you said if they dont go freemium then maybe theres some hope for them.

But at this point I'm not holding my breath.

I hated D3 for like two years after I quit. This was the non-expansion.

Then, I logged into my account ages later to discover that someone hacked it and bought Reaper of Souls and, presumably, also quit. So I changed my password and went on my characters to fool around. It's a big difference from the first D3 shortly after the release. RoS is what D3 should have been from the beginning. Sucks that they only added one new character in RoS, but I didn't have to pay for it so I'm fine with that. Now I'm Paragon 450 or something. Holy damage Heaven's Fury/Blessed Hammer Crusader, Lightning damage Whirlwind/Call of the Ancients Barb.

I definitely recommend trying RoS if you haven't already. It's actually pretty fun to me lol....a new season is coming out soon as well.

I did the beta for RoS, with the exception of the Templar it was just too dull. It was a little bit better than the first but still just can't capture the magic of 1 n 2.

I stopped D3 for PoE, it takes that game which is also free and not freemium with the exception of vanity stuff and like storage space. I highly recommend PoE over D3. D3 was just like oh 5 mins into the game unique weapon which of course wasn't really unique anymore.

More than likely not until they push out Legion for WoW.

I haven't found any announcements, but I hope it's late next year at the very latest. Then, again, it's Blizzard. But we can hope...

Overwatch seems like the new TF2 too me. But much less messed up. And with very unique gameplay mechanics. I am really looking forward to it. And I don't dislike Blizzard for going free-to-play.

F2P and freemium are different, F2P with support for "vanity" items like what PoE does is good, on the other hand what EA, Activision and the likes do, aka pay to win is bad.

I just hope they dont mess it up like they've been doing with the rest of their games.

It's really hard to find a good and fair balance. I've seen that in Planetside 2. Buying weapons is really, reallly expensive( 5-15€!). But different weapons don't make you stronger. But they affect your gameplay. Therefore you should only spend money on weapons in PS2 if you're serious about Planetside 2.
Then we have TF2 where the only thing you really are going to spend money on is Unusual Weapons and cosmetics which don't affect gameplay at all. New weapons are dropped randomly and therefore there is no need to buy them. Same with CS:GO where you can only buy skins.

If Overwatch works just like that and you can only buy cosmetics, then this is going to be a fair and balanced game like CS:GO. I really wish for them to just copy the CS:GO model.
