Tracer is my favorite! Saw the demos and i think tracer is OP
because of her ability

She has really low health and needs to get relatively close, though. And her rate of fire is high but the weapon is weak. I've seen her empty an entire clip into some characters and they still don't die.

Bad Tracers seem to just get destroyed. Against powerful assaults like Reaper with similar range, she dies in 1-2 shots unless she has good timing. I've also seen good ones in some gameplay vids. Stick a bomb onto an enemy in a hallway just before they try to rush and get triple kill. You have to rewind and blink out of everything. I'd probably find it to be disorienting.

I'm looking forward to Bastion and McCree. Turning into a shielded turret in a strategic area to mow everything down sounds great..and he even self-repairs. Accurate revolver with power at all ranges seems nice. Zenyatta also looks interesting but his very low health is a bit off-putting. Then, again, he's support with a heal and not an assault like Tracer.

Horyshet each character has abilities that aren't mentioned on Blizzard's page.

Judging by a bunch of posts on Reddit, playtesters discovered that every character has a melee attack. I wonder how that works. Will some deal more damage than others? Tracer's did something like 50-60 damage, according to a couple of people. I've seen melee attacks in vids but I didn't know every character has one. Zenyatta's is a kick, Tracer bops you with a pistol, Hanzo punches you. I don't know how this works for melee characters like Reinhardt. Quick melee?

Characters also have passive abilities that don't take up an active skill slot. Hanzo gets wall climbing, Reaper gets health globes from people he kills, Mercy and Pharah can fly, Winston takes 20% less damage, etc. That's all I know for now but I'm trying to find out what passives other characters have.

Might pick the game up if the heroes are free, otherwise I'm not

I don't think Blizzard would pull that 'buy-each-hero' stunt. Hopefully it's not a monthly payment deal, either. I'm guessing it would be either free to play (and money you spend won't affect actual gameplay) or you just buy it once in the beginning.

Seems interesting, although I tend to avoid these sorts of competitive games; I'm more of a single-player/co-op sort of guy. Make love, not war, or if you have to, make war with friends.

Blizzard has implemented a number of features to get players to focus on the objective rather than become K/D ratio hunters.
1. If you assist with a kill, the system counts it as your kill. It also displays as a kill for every other teammate who dealt damage within a certain timeframe to that enemy. It's a kill for every participant, not just the guy who did the most damage.
2. You get points for healing, reviving, or buffing allies. Support roles and tank roles won't be as neglected.
3. There's no mode yet that depends on killing as much as possible to win due to points.
4. Against an improper enemy type, it is hard for you to prevail. For instance, even if you're an attacker like Reaper who manages to catch the enemy team in a bad position, you can't just gun them all down and get 5 kills unless the enemy absolutely does not know what they are doing. There are shield guys and people capable of giving armor and providing constant healing. You have to choose your battles carefully based on your current situation.
5. People can switch heroes in the middle of the game at their spawn point. You have to probably switch according to what the enemy team is capable of as well as consider what the character you choose can do against certain enemies.

Signed up for the beta and it's sitting pretty on my launcher. I'll let you know when I start, haha. I think it'll be simple and fun, but tbh it's just a placeholder for me until I can sink my teeth into Ghost in the Shell online.
