I'd like to join the royal marines but I'd probably fail to get in. I'd try my luck with the more specialist parts of the army (ie. paratroopers or SAS) and then probably get shoved into officer training because I have a degree.

I can't join the RAF (royal air force) due to colour blindness, I'm not joining the navy either. I've wanted to join the armed forces all my life but my family wouldn't let me so I wouldn't join the coastguard simply because I want to serve. If my country is being attacked then I want to be fighting on the front lines and if I die for my country then I die with honour.

Whatever the senior intake officer recommended based on my skills. I don't have any sentimental ties or ideas about what each military group is like, so I'd rather just do something that I'm good at or could become good at.

Get all my stuff, laptop, wifi, anime, ect. Grab my friends, go to upstate new York, get a house/go to a relatives. Lock every window and door. Wait for the war to end, or death. If I had to choose coast guard.

There wouldn't be a choice for me. I would be recalled to the RNoAF, to do what I was trained to do, which is to work closely with all branches, to survey, surveil, retrieve personnel, relocate and secure.

Ground troop, btw.

Air Force. Either I am a pilot above most of the action but potentially inflicting the most casualties on the enemy via bombs...especially nukes--as that is how a lot are delivered (nukes are actually often delivered by plane, not missile), or I am a mechanic working on the planes far behind the lines.

Or maybe even a drone pilot.

I would choose the Air Force so that when I get killed the impact from the crash will bury me six feet under and save on the cost of a coffin and burial and if I don't die in battle I would like to be fired into the ground through the use of a canon.

Trust me, they all have very, VERY different functions.

I am aware of that, but when I hear those terms, first thing I imagine is water/ocean/sea lol.

Ah, ok, lol. Well, think about it in these terms. XD

Coast guard is for defense, Navy and Marines are for offense, and marines are the troops that go ashore while navy only keeps the ships running smoothly and fires from afar (or pilots the planes in the case of navy pilots)
