Aldaris made his way towards his master's forge aptly named, "First Forge". Indeed it was considered to be one the very first forges built in the sprawling marketplace. He entered the smithy and met up with his master and the few apprentices present. They had small talk, reminiscing the past and the good old days before getting down to business. He commissioned a pair of daggers to be made with due haste, which his master complied. As his master made the daggers, he looked around the forge and made a couple of inquiries regarding new ammunition stocks and the current bullet molds being sold. After receiving a catalog of their wares, he ordered a couple of pouches filled with tin and lead; a large bag of exotic elemental materials like mermaid teeth and dragon scales; as well as a new bullet mold where he can make up to four bullets each time. he also bought another satchel to hold all his personal purchases.

After making his purchases, his master came back with a pair of ivory daggers with matching sheaths. They were, in his eyes, works of art. The leather grip was of fine quality; the sheaths were made of the same leather but with gold trims at the edges; when his master pulled one of the blades out of their sheaths, he was mesmerized by the brilliant white alloy used for the blade. He knew this type of metal is highly resistant to breakage and can even fight on par with the sharpest blades. His master re-sheaths the blade before presenting it to him along with a matching belt to go with the blades. He was about to pay for the blades but his master denied payment saying it was Aldaris' last gift he would receive from him. He graciously accepted the gifts, bidding his last farewells before leaving the forge.

As he was walking towards the rendezvous point, he couldn't help but feel someone was following him. He discreetly turned his sight to his sides and noticed a couple of people following him. He didn't wish to alert them, thus he walked towards the sea of people and discreetly pushed and pulled them to block his pursuers. When a good distance was made, he quickly sprinted towards an alleyway. He quickly climbed towards the roof of a nondescript building and hid. After a few moments and hearing the footsteps of people entering the alleyway, he carefully peeked out of his hiding place. He saw two people; their figures obscured by heavy cloaks. His blood ran cold when he saw the emblem of a roaring dragon with its open jaws poised to devour a burning rose on their cloaks. They're here. Their influence knows no bounds in the land of Fire. He has to hurry. Isi might be in danger!

Seeing his two shadows left the alley and disappear from his sights, he dashed through the rooftops with due haste. He prayed to the makers that Isi would be safe. These...people...are monsters in human form. Dangerous to the core and ruthless in spirit. He just prays that nothing horrid happened to Isi on her way to the market shops...

Isi continued to be silent even as the footsteps vanished. She thought back to the odd cloak they were wearing but didn't think much of it as footsteps sounded behind her. Whipping around she blindly launched herself at where the footsteps were coming from and tackled the person down, rolling with them off the roof. She looked up at her attacker and let out a shocked yell as they fell to the ground. Isi quickly bent the earth to catch their fall, trying to take the brunt of the fall instead of her companion. Once they were on the ground Isi looked up at Aldaris who had landed on her, "I-I'm so sorry!! I thought you were one of the people who was following me..." She lay on the ground beneath him and covered her face in her hand, her face bright read with embarrassment, "I'm sorry... Are you hurt?" She mumbled and looked back up at him.

He groaned softly as he shook his head. Falling from that high up was not pleasant. "I'm fine, a little dazed but fine." He said as he slowly stood up. He gently grabbed her and pulled her up with him, bringing her close to him. He inspected his companion, checking if she was hurt for taking the fall. Seeing that she was fine, if not sore in his opinion, he sighed in relief. "I'm sorry for startling you a moment ago but we have to go. I never knew their influence in the town is this strong now. Since they are here, we'll be meeting with my grandfather at an inn called 'The Ember Cove'. It's just near the plaza but we'll have use the rooftops to avoid detection on the ground. When we reach our destination, we'll drop down on one of the side streets before proceeding inside the inn by the front door.Don't worry, my grandfather knows what to do in a situation like this."

He frowned remembering her words about someone following her. It appears someone knew who were his companions too. This is not good. "Isi, did they hurt you? What do they look like? How many?" This was absolutely not good.

"Okay! And the person... Well yes it was just one person wearing this weird cloak that had an emblem on the back. I did not see what the person looked like. How they know about us together is beyond me. And no they didn't hurt me, I'm a lot quicker than what people usually think." She looked up at him and noticed how concerned he looked and close he was at the moment. Isi tried not to blush but it couldn't be helped so she turned around to the opening of the ally, "I'll use the earth to get us to the roofs and then show me the way. We must be careful even on the roofs as we don't know if they know we are on them. Ready?" She asked and turned around a bit to see him, her blush finally fading away a bit.

Aldaris never noticed Isi's reaction. His mind was racing a mile a minute. They're really were here in this town. The only possible safe place would be the sky or the rooftops; but he could tell they may send one or two goons to scour the place for their presence. He drew his tri-barreled pistol and gripped it tightly. If a fight ever broke out then there was a good possibility they would attract the attention of half of their numbers on them by the first few minutes, leaving them open to capture or worse. Stealth is the key and fighting out in the open was a last resort.

He saw Isi look at him, waiting for his confirmation. He nodded as he moved closer to her. His eyes were cold and narrowed. His gaze scanned the surrounding area, his ears were at the ready, focusing on the slightest bit of noise that would alert them to danger, and his body was tense and ready to take action. This trip was finally getting a bit too dangerous for the town and his companion; and he personally doesn't like that...

Isi took a deep breath and bent the earth below them to bring them to the roof tops. Looking at Aldaris she whispered, "I would put the guns away. Do you have the daggers or the fans you went to the smith for? You and me can always use those." She ignored the closeness of her and Aldaris as much as she could so she focused on her surroundings and stepped onto the roof of the building, looking around at the other roof tops when she caught some movement. Her tail and body froze and her ears twitched, tilting towards the movement, "Quick, which way." she hissed to the man next to her, looking towards him slightly frantic, "There up here I can hear them. One is nearby we need to get out of here quick."

"I managed to acquire daggers for you instead of the battle fans." He said as he gave her the well crafted daggers for her to use. "The fans were to long to make. My master recommended to acquire them when the time isn't as hectic as now. Maybe in the land of Earth were there won't be much trouble for the both of us. Better yet, the land of Air produce the finest battle fans in the land; we can acquire a fine piece there."

Hearing her, he hid his guns again, and carried her bridal style. He dashed through the rooftops, his feet were silent with each step. It was quiet, no sound could be heard around them except the chatting people bellow. He turned to the corner of his eye and spotted a silhouette of a figure emerging from one of the rooftop windows. Maybe luck was on their side or their pursuer was a bit of an idiot, when their tail just turned the other way and proceeded to search for them there.

After a few minutes, they reached their destination. Aldaris surveyed the surrounding area carefully. Finding none of their pursuers, he dropped down to the alley below them. When their feet touched the ground once again, he gently places Isi back on her feet. He looked and listened again, deeming the place safe at the moment, he held her hand and walked out of the alleyway with her in tow. "The inn is just right beside us; but we have to enter it through the front doors. Entering through a different area would result in an unpleasant experience...it's just a precaution made by my grandfather."

The inn was just like any other inn found on the bustling town. A nondescript place for a secret meeting. He placed his hands on the door before looking at Isi. He had to make sure that she was with him on this endeavor. "Ready, Isi?"

Isi was still trying to catch up on all the event that had just occurred. She looked up at the building and at her surroundings, "Y-yeah lets go." she replied in a distant voice. Isi looked back to Aldaris and then pushed past him to open the door to the inn. It was as normal as any building could get, it wasn't a hotel for rich but it wasn't in the slums as well. Everything was quiet and very few people were seen in the small lobby. Everyone who was already inside the inn had stopped and stared at Isi and her companion, what an unusual sight they must have been.

He followed her inside. Seeing the people of the inn made him tense, but a closer inspection made him relax. Though they were armed, he noticed the patches on their breast or arms. The symbol of a Phoenix with a sword and scroll on its talons. The symbol of his grandfather. He walked passed Isi and approached one of the men. "Take us to my grandfather, your master Cassius." His voice was strong and carried a sense of authority. The man nodded and ushered them to follow him. He held Isi's hand before following the man. They approached the door to back rooms of the inn. The man stops in front of the door, knocks before opening the door. He ushers them inside before closing the door. The room was barely illuminated by a few small lanterns which bathes the room in shadow and light.

Here he was greeted by the sight of his old yet powerful grandfather. His figure was obscured by the shadows and his cloak; and yet, he could see his old and wizened face. He approached his grandfather before stopping only a few feet away from the man. Aldaris bowed his head in greeting and his grandfather did the same. Then there was silence. No one spoke for a long time, until his grandfather walked closer to him and clasped his shoulders with his old yet firm hands. "My boy, you have grown so much. I fear that this may be the last time I would see you..."

Aldaris' blood ran cold. "G-grandfather?" His grandfather shook his head signaling Aldaris to stay silent. "I know my end is near. Our family closes in with each passing second. They wish to end you for...tainting...the family name. They wish to silence me for providing a dissenting voice against their cruelty to non-benders and non-fire benders in the family council. This...may have hastened my demise." A lone tear fell from his eye before he spoke again, "I'm sorry my boy for all this. That now, you would bear such a great burden. You cannot escape this, you know right? Thus I have decided, along with my supporters, to pass on to you...the true legacy of our family." As he said this he nodded to the side. From the shadows emerged two figures obscured by their cloaks. On their hands were bowls filled with red metallic ink and a very sharp stylus. "There isn't much time to explain. With each moment we linger, they will tighten the noose around our necks in this city. So listen well, my boy. These are the family scribes loyal to me. They would mark you...they would imprint upon you the true history of our family. You will experience pain, but it would be worth it in the end. They would transcribe on your body family folklore, family trees, teachings and wisdom passed down from generation to generation, fighting techniques, and many more. You my boy, would be the living legacy of the Seculus line. When this is over, run. Leave and get stronger. Acquire your element and train in it. When the time is right...you must return and cleanse the family of the filth that dominates it. Purge the line for it to bloom anew."

Aldaris was shocked. This was what his grandfather wanted? The cleansing of the line and the acceptance of the family legacy. A heavy burden on his soul and his body; however he shall bear it. For him, for the innocent, for his companion...he will bear it all. He sighed before he nodded in acceptance, he was willing and ready. He took of his clothes, leaving himself bare for all to see. He slowly approached the two cloaked figures before they disappeared in the shadows.

His grandfather, Cassius, looked at Isi before walking towards her. From within his cloak he pulled out a thick journal. He presented the journal to her before saying, "I know you will be my grandson's companion through this perilous journey...here take this. This journal would help you both in the coming days. I thank you for staying with him, no matter how short your stay with him might be. I ask of you to care for that foolish boy. He really needs someone to ground him..." As he trailed off, they could her muffled screams from the shadows. It seems the ritual was commencing. "You may stay here and wait for them to finish, a sign of support for my grandson. Or you could go outside with the men and defend this place from your relentless bloodthirsty pursuers. It's your choice, milady." He said as he left the room. Leaving Isi in the room of flickering lights and shadow.

Isi thought about what the man had asked of her. Of course she would stick around with Aldaris and she would help him on his journey... But she wasn't sure if going outside to protect him was the best idea. She got out the dagger Aldaris had previously given her and held it at the ready. Isi decided to stay in the room with Aldaris and if she needed to she would protect him from the inside. Hearing his quiet screams of pain was excruciating in itself for Isi. She hated that he was being put through this... Once they got to a safer place she would need to talk with him about this all. Her ears picked up the sound of light thumps on the roof of the inn and froze. It seemed the people who had been following them found where they were. Biting her lip, she made a quick decision and looked to the shadows where Aldaris was and whispered, "I'll be right back Okay? I'll protect you." She silently and quickly threw open the window and shot up onto the roof where two cloaked figures were standing. They seemed to jump in surprise as Isi made an appearance but recovered fast and launched themselves at Isi, one bending fire at her. Isi let out a squeak and dodged them both, jumping onto another roof and running away. The two men took the bait and ran after her, jumping from roof to roof. Skidding to a stop, Isi turned around and lunged at the man closest to her, cutting his chest and leaving a gash right across. The man let out a scream and lost his balance, tumbling down the ground and landing on the ground with a crack and then silence. Isi sucked in her breath and stopped in shock while the other man let out a choked scream of anger. Using this to his advantage, the man ran at Isi, bending fire and swinging his own dagger. Letting out a shriek and jumping back, Isi manage to escape with a burned hand and held back tears of pain. Isi finally let her anger take over her and let the wolf side of her dominate. In front of the man she started transforming into a wolf as he stared and froze in shock. Not giving up any time, she let out a snarl and launched herself at him, biting onto his arm that held the dagger. The man screamed and struggled out of her grip, swinging his arm around wildly, managing a cut on her side. Yelping, Isi finally threw herself at the man and sent him flying off the side of the building and into an alley. He landed head first and ceased moving but Isi barely noticed it. She quickly transformed back (clothed), and panted while jumping from building to building. The injuries she had sustained were barely noticeable as the exhaustion of shifting had taken over her. Isi made it back into the building through the widow and calapsed inside. Her last though was, I hope Aldaris is okay.

It was a battle to behold! Benders and non-benders under the command of Cassius were fighting side by side against the benders of the Seculus family. Streams of fire flew through the air; the sound of blades clashing against blades rang throughout the vicinity; lightning surging through the wind cutting down those unfortunate enough to stand on its way; and shockingly enough, streams of lava were gushing forth from the earth consuming all in its wake. It is as if the whole town was in chaos.

As the battle raged on outside, the ritual was beginning to wind down to a close. Aldaris could feel his throat was hoarse and his body felt numb. He felt his head spin and his vision darken; but before anything dangerous occurred, he felt something being pressed on his lips. He opened his mouth and swallowed something cool and soothing to both his throat and body. Before long, he felt a couple of people pull him up and slowly but surely he himself being dressed. As this was happening, he got a glimpse of the handy work the two figures done to him. Every inch of his body--every patch of skin from his neck down to this feet--was covered with red metallic markings except his head. He couldn't make them out in the dim light but he could feel it in himself that these marking meant a lot more than simple tattoos. When they were finished, one of the figures left his side, while the other came presented his weapons and packs. He slowly secured his items to his person before slowly walking out of the shadows.

He saw Isi collapsed by the window with one of the figures tending to her by applying some medicine to her wounds and wrapping them in bandages. He rushed to her side, ignoring the prickling pains all over his body, and held her hand. He could still feel a pulse coming from her; he sighed with relief and his eyes steeled. Those monsters harmed her, someone under his protection. He remembered the vow made to his grandfather after seeing his companion's injured state. They would pay in due time for hurting her. Seeing the figure done with healing Isi, he crouched down in front of her and told the figure to help her up on him. Soon he was carrying her in a fireman's carry position, with his other hand holding on to his rifle. He walked out the room with his weapon at the ready, his body tensed in preparation of the coming fight.

When they both left the inn, it was carnage that greeted them. It felt like a war had begun and they were right at the thick of it. No matter how much he wanted to fight, Isi's safety was his priority. With that in mind, he made a mad dash towards the town's border; intent on running towards the woods and hiding there for the time being. He spotted an armored figure bearing the Seculus house marking chasing after them, his armored feet were blazing with red fire. Aldaris quickly aimed his rifle and fired, his shot connecting to the figure's head. The figure toppled over dead. As the distance grew he noticed the figure slowly got back on his feet. His eyes widened as he picked up his pace.

When a man survives getting his head blown off then you know something's definitely wrong. The armored figure seeing his prey run, gave out a guttural roar before continuing the chase. As Aldaris made it to the town's edge, he knew for certain that the beast would be upon them in a few short minutes. He was resigned to die defending his companion when he saw the armored monster burst through a building, intent on killing both of them. But a flash of lightning struck the beast from behind. An old man in pristine leather armor jumped down from the roof of another building. It was his grandfather Cassius. The man looked at him before nodding which was returned by Aldaris. "Go, my boy. Flee and rest. For the battle has just begin. I'll hold them off so both of you can escape." He then jumped back towards the battle, intent to make good with his promise.

Aldaris took that as his signal to run. He and his unconscious companion left the town and hid in the woods. After a few miles covered and a couple of hours of continuous running, he found a cave isolated by the foliage and trees. Seeing this was a safe spot, he gently laid Isi down the ground. He got out of the cave and collected a few pieces of wood, thin branches and dried leaves before returning to the cave. He placed his materials at the side and collected some rocks around the cave to form a small fire pit. After making the pit, he placed the leaves and sticks in a neat pile before taking out a couple of flint. Sparks flew as he struck the flint together. Before long, a nice fire started to form. When the fire was big enough, he placed the bigger pieces of wood to help feed the fire.

When in was all said and done, he took of his cloak and draped it on Isi to help keep her comfortable. Exhaustion crept up on his as he sat down by her side and closed his eyes to rest. "We're safe now, Isi. I'm sorry you got dragged into this." were his last words before sleep claimed him.

Isi's eyes opened and her head spun with confusion as all she saw was damp stone. She slowly sat up, making sure not to open any injuries that had mysteriously been taken care of and looked around to find Aldaris asleep but sitting up next to her, a dying fire pit, and a cloak that lay on top of her. Blinking a few times she tried to recall what exactly had happened to her when it all came rushing back, causing her to tighten her grip on the moss. Isi had never taken a human life before and now she had really stooped to the level that she was convicted of in the first place. She trembled in shock and rolled into a ball, trying to convince herself that it hadn't actually happened... Also, she was feeling worse when she realized that Aldaris had been the one to probably save her. She was suppose to be the one helping him and protecting him not the other way around. Isi shook her head in disappointment and slowly struggled to stand up while stumbling over to Aldaris, grabbing the knifes he had made for her and then stumbling back to the opening of the cave, sitting watch for him. She was not a weak person... She knew it so why did the injuries hurt more than they should.... It's probably because of all this disapproval, she thought and sat down, looking out into the woods for any threats.

Aldaris slowly opened his eyes. He slowly stretched his arms and legs, relieving some of the kinks of his body. His eyes landed on the dying flames of the fire pit before he turned his gaze to where Isi was supposed to be resting. All he found was his cloak on the ground. Seeing her gone caused his eyes to widen. He looked around the cave frantically before calming down. He saw her seated by the cave entrance, her daggers at her side. He could feel the air around her was thick and her disposition was that of a stormy sea. He sighed softly before standing up and dusting himself. He picked up some of the collected leaves and fed them to the dying flames. He also took a couple pieces of wood and fed them to the fire as well. After doing so, he collected his cloak and slowly walked towards Isi; he was careful not to startle her at his approach. He gently draped his cloak on her shoulders and sat down beside her.

The air was cold and he could clearly feel the warmth emanating from the fire pit behind them. He gazed at the distance before turning a weary gaze at his companion. His eyes conveyed so much sadness. Sadness for his companion, a kind soul dragged through the mud of hatred and his mistakes. "Isi...I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for dragging you to a conflict that you have no involvement in. I...makers above...I'm sorry." A single tear trickled down his cheek as he placed his hand on her arm. It really did broke his heart seeing her like this. Wounded and lost, these things...have no place on an innocent soul like her.

Isi looked at Adaris and gave him a small smile, "Don't be sorry Aldaris... I chose this path and I will not back down. If I did, who would ever be there for you on this journey. Anyway, all wounds will heal in time so don't worry about me. I'll be fine." She reached down and held his hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze and looking up in his eyes trying to convey what she said. No matter how hard the journey was going to get, Isi hoped to stick around till the end. Sighing, Isi slowly stood up while stretching and trying not to open up her wounds. The cut on her side would heal quicker but the burn was something that would probably take longer. Ignoring the little bits of pain she grabbed her daggers and quietly walked out of the cave and deeper into the woods surrounding them. She moved far enough away to be in earshot of the cave and then stopped walking, slipping off her shoes and standing still. Her ears moved around, trying to pick up sounds or feeling the small vibrations of the forest animal. Suddenly leaves rustled and a rabbit hopped out of a clump of bushes. With out wasting a second, Isi hurled a dagger at the poor creature, landing home in its neck. Isi made her way over to the animal and knelt down, whispering a thanks and an apology to the animal before picking it up by the knife still in it. She walked back to Aldaris and handed it to him, "Here can you skin and cook it while I look through what we have right now? I thought some food might do us good and we don't want to waste what we have already when there is lots of animals around already. We need to get moving as well. Staying here for too long could be bad..." Not look at her companion she walked past him and into the cave.

He took the rabbit and made his way to the fire. He grabbed a couple of sticks he had scavenged and made a makeshift spit. He took out a knife from his pack and started to skin the dead rabbit. Upon completing his task, he stuck the skinned rabbit on another stick and placed it on the spit. As he was cooking the rabbit, he couldn't help but feel his conscience roaring at him to comfort his companion.

"Isi...when we reach somewhere safe, we need to talk. I can tell something's been eating away at your conscience...and mine too." He mumbled at the end. He looked at the back of his hand, the red metallic markings tattooed on his body gleamed at the light of the flickering fire. Was it all worth it, he wondered. All the pain and hardship...the horror she had to face, was it all worth it? He gave out a weary sigh before shaking his head. A strong pure woman like her should not be subjected to the horrors she experienced earlier, he wondered. I she okay? He couldn't help but ask himself. He looked at her, seeing she was busy taking stock at what they have, he just couldn't help but ask that simple yet complicated question. He just couldn't find the answer. Maybe when they were safe, the answer might come...
