Isi nodded her head but continued looking at her work, "I agree. There are also things I must tell you before we go on, I can tell you now... That is if you are okay with that though. We are safe for the time being so I guess I will..." Isi turned to him now, looking into his eyes, "I am no longer welcome in my home tribe. I used to be a leader of sorts. Ever since I was small I was chosen to be a leader in the Earth Tribe because of my bending skills and my ability to lead. But my views were different, a view not shared by many... I made a mistake in trying to speak out against how the benders treated the non benders. The conditions for them there are horrendous and it absolutely broke my heart ever since I was small enough to think. So when I had the spot light I shared my ideas and the next day I was convicted of attempted murder and treason, so basically I would be killed if I was caught. I was the night before I was convicted, but they were smart and made it seem like I attacked them and I tried to attack the leaders of the tribe. That is why you found me in the Fire Tribe, I've been homeless and on the run basically all this time. Now there are other things I want to tell you too but that can wait. I felt like I at least owed you an explanation of all of that." Her eyes turned down and she shrugged, "Trust me I don't have much left I can do in this world and if I can help you it would mean the world to me. I have nothing left... Aside from you and I'm happy that way even if it means getting hurt..." Isi turned away a bit as she started to blush, "Anyway I'm sorry to bore you with a silly story and some sappy words to make up for it..."

Hearing her story made his heart drop to his stomach and his fist tightened around the makeshift spit. They...they were so similar in circumstances. Betrayed by the people around them and hunted down like animals. He asked himself, why? Why would they do this to her? A kind soul who only wanted what was best for the people, for her tribe? They would condemn her to death for the sake of preserving an archaic status quo!? He releases his grip on the spit and stood up. He made his way to her side and held her. He knows she's strong, but experiencing all that can break even the strongest of beings. "Don't be sorry, Isi. Don't be. I...I understand your situation. When I was born, everything was right. My family loved me and cared for me like any normal child. But when I was of age to manifest bending I...I never had the spark. From then on, I was treated no more than dirt in their eyes. The beatings, the insults...they never stopped until my grandfather took me in and cared for me. He gave me an education, he fed me, clothed me, and protected me as best he could. He brought me to teachers that would impart their skills and teachings to me...to better prepare me for what's to come. When the time came for me to leave, I confronted my grandfather on my wish...my dream. You remember the incident with Lord Pyron? Well, that never happened with my grandfather. All I saw was the sadness in his eyes and the weariness of his body. He gave me a few words, his blessing and enough funds to last me half the year. So I went out, did a couple of jobs, made a name for myself. There are things I cannot tell you about due to oaths made and passed, but the rest should be recent history. I went to Pyron, met you and got you dragged on a dangerous journey." He sighed sadly before continuing. "Now we might have witnessed the beginnings of a civil war in the land of Fire. Assassins wouldn't stop hounding us instead of just me. I'm so sorry, Isi. Truly I am...for dragging you into this mess. I'm such a worthless...friend."

Isi's eyes widened and moved her arms around him to also show her support, "No no Aldaris you don't understand. Even if I had known exactly what I was getting myself into at the time we met I would have gone with you anyways. I've found someone who can understand me and I can understand them as well as a kind and amazing person. You are one of the best people I've ever met, you are not worthless at all. I would never take back my decision to come with you. I want to protect you, be there for you, laugh with you, travel with you... I want to be with you and I want to make sure you live up to your wishes and dreams. I beg that you don't feel sorry for my decisions... I just wish to be by your side." She dug her head into the crook of his neck and shoulder, squeezing Aldaris into a tighter embrace than before to show that there was truth in her words, "All things happen for a reason and the world thought it was the right thing to both put us through hardships. We are the people we are now because of all of those things and I wouldn't want to be any other person in any other place." She quietly mumbled into his shoulder.

Aldaris returned the embrace with equal force. She was right. They wouldn't be the people they are now without the past and everything that has happened, happened for a reason. "Thank you Isi. I too would be there for you. Both good and bad times...through hardships and joys...I would always be by your side." As they both held each other, a cold breeze wafted around them. His body tensed and he lowered his head in sadness. "It seems life's just gonna get harder from here. Civil war just broke out in that town. It may spread throughout the land of Fire. The Seculus might call in their allies to help fight in this conflict. My grandfather might call on his allies as well. All I know is that...this is the beginning of change. For good or for ill, I am not sure."

He couldn't help but chuckle mirthlessly. "One of the most influential families of the Fire Tribe in armed conflict against the most talented bender and honorable councilman of the Fire Tribe. Oh, what a day..."

Isi held back a content sigh at Aldaris returned the hug and as she listened to him talk she nuzzled her head more into his neck area, "It'll all work itself out. We will be able to get through this and still up hold your Grandfather's wishes, okay? As for the civil war... Well, it happens and in the end we will make it out together. If we get stronger and support each other then we will be fine. Do not stress yourself out about what may or may not happen but make sure the better outcome will surely happen. Besides, you have me okay?" Isi wished she could stay forever like this but knew at some point they would both have stop embracing. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, in taking the sents around her and from the man she was holding, "You smell nice." She mumbled and then let out a squeak, slapping a hand on her mouth and her face turning crimson. Isi let go of Aldaris and peaked through her hands at him, letting out a giggle that turned into a laughing fit she couldn't stop, "S-sorry, I-I just have better senses than o-others so I could s-smell more than others." She managed out between laughs, her face still red and too embarrassed to turn his way.

Aldaris couldn't help but chuckle before smiling. "Oh, Isi. Don't ever change, alright?" As he said this he held her closer. His heart felt light and his spirit grew in strength. Yes, they have each other. Together, they can transverse through the storms of life. Together, they can face any foe and come out victorious. He rested his forehead on hers and he stared deep in to her eyes. "Isi, I solemnly swear...no matter what happens...I will be rock. Your sword and shield against those that would harm you. I give to you my solemn word that I would be with you till the end of time."

He doesn't know why he said those words but it felt...right. It felt absolutely right to say them. He rested his hand on her cheek. His eyes and hands conveying his sincerity to her from his spirit and heart.

Isi stopped her laughing after hearing his voice go more serious. She nodded her head when he told her not to change and when he put his forehead on her she also looked deeply into his eyes. His eyes are beautiful, she thought and then listened to him speak. Her breath caught when he put his hand on her cheek and she responded with, "And I will be your fire. I will always be there to show you light and show you the way. I'll never burn out, no matter the conditions each of us are in. I will protect you from the animals and creatures that chose the path that is dark. I promise that I will always be there for you." Isi put her smaller hand over his heart, feeling his heartbeat and showing her promise was true. Not breaking eyes contact, she suddenly had a thought that she couldn't quite push out, not that she didn't like it, but Aldaris wouldn't probably so she just stayed that way with him.

Aldaris smiled after hearing her own vow. His smile grew wider when he felt the warmth of her hand on his chest. It was...nice and it felt right. But this good feeling had to end. Reluctantly he lets her go. "You should rest Isi. You need to regain your strength as much as you can. I'll keep an eye out for trouble."His whispered word conveyed his worry and care for her.

He stood up and brought out his rifle. He walked towards the cave entrance and sat down on a rock. He slowly loaded his rifle. As he was doing this he let his mind wander. He thought about all that has happened up to that point. From meeting her and their misadventures at the town. From the harrowing escape and battle. He shook his head wryly. They've been through a lot. Him and his Isi. His head shot up after that thought. 'My Isi? Where did that come from?' He shook his head of that though but he couldn't keep the smile from forming on his face. He turned his head slightly. His gaze falling on his companion. Seeing her does bring a smile to his face and a rush to his heart. He was a bit confused with what he was feeling now; but maybe when they leave for safer places, he would explore this new feeling and see where it leads him.

Isi nodded her head, her thoughts about things other than resting up. She bit her lip, what was happening to her... There was something- actually many things about Aldaris that made her happy and warm inside. Isi watched him get up and walk to the cave entrance. He seemed to be deep in thought even as he loaded his rifle and gazed out. She looked away towards the supplies and the cloak that now lay on the floor that Aldaris had given to her before. Isi let out a yawn, her ears pulling back like a cat or dog's would when they yawned and she picked a spot to lay on the floor. She grabbed the cloak and pulled it around her body as she curled up a bit. She had to admit that she was kind of tired even though she had woken up not too long ago. Her breaths got slower and deeper and her eye lids became heavy as she thought about what Aldaris really was to her but she couldn't think about that at the moment. There was too much danger still lurking around the corner to have her thoughts be consumed like this. Finally sleep claimed her and her deep breaths filled the cave. Ever since she was little, when ever she slept really deeply it would sound like she was purring almost. She dreamed about her childhood and how her mom always teased her about her purring. It must have been a few hours later when she was awoken by a snap. Her body tensed and she was awake and sitting up in a few seconds. The forest and ground was telling her that it was a human or humanoid thing not an animal. It was still very far away because of her really good hearing but close enough to scare her. Her gaze darted to Aldaris, hoping her warning would be conveyed when she lifted a finger to her lips and her eyes were wide with slight fear.

Aldaris noticed Isi's distressed look. Whatever scared her must be close by. He gripped his rifle on his right and with his left, he grabbed Agatha the blunderbuss. He stilled his breathing and listened to his surroundings. He heard a twig snap at the distance. It was close but not that close. If their luck would hold, then whatever was skulking around the woods would pass them by. But if not, he was ready to fight. As long as Isi survives...he'll pay any price to keep her safe. His hands gripped his weapons tightly. The land was silent now, the breeze slowly blowing around them. "Whatever you are, whoever you are...I dare you to come here. Show yourself and I'll grant you a swift death." He whispered with such vehemence that even his eyes were burning with righteous determination.

He'll be the shield that would keep evil and the horrors at bay. He was ready...

Isi stumbled up and pushed Aldaris back as hard as she could and bent the ground up to block the entrance of the cave just as fire erupted from where the twig had snapped moments before. The earth held but it had already become hot in the cave because of the fire outside, "Get the stuff and get back now!" She shouted and made sure the wall held, grabbing Aldaris' hand and running to get the things and get back. Isi winced as she felt her wounds throbbing a bit but she ignored it, "I'm going to create a tunnel out of here okay? But from now on you're going to need to trust me and let me go okay?" She looked into his eyes, promising she would return, "Whatever you do just trust me and follow the way the earth will lead you." and she blasted a hole into the ground that covered right back up with Aldaris in it but continued down and away from the cave. The hole was still covering up when she shifted into a wolf and blasted through the rock into the outside world, pelting as fast as she could in the opposite direction. She felt the footsteps behind her but they faded as she was running too fast for them to catch up. Isi put her concentration into the tunnel for Aldaris, it was far beneath the ground by now but safely headed towards the surface. She could sense his anger and desperation for her risk taking but it needed to be done. Once she was sure that the man or woman was sill following her but far behind she dodged to the right and shifted back to her mostly human form. Isi made her way high up a tree and hid in the leaves and branches as the person came running past. She felt that Aldaris was finally at the surface and using up her strength she used the ground to form the words, "I am ok. Go on and I will be there." As the person rushed by she recognized the dreaded symbol on their back but not just that... Looking closer she spied a tattoo on the man's arm of the symbol of the Earth tribe. She held in her shock and until she man was out of her earshot she let out a breath. Things were getting interesting... She needed to get back to Aldaris though, so she climbed down the tree slowly and stumbled on towards her companion. Hoping he was more okay than she was.

It happened so fast. As he followed Isi's instructions, his mind raced a mile a minute. How could they have found them so quickly? He made sure that they wouldn't be able to find them that easily...so how? And now, Isi was out there...fighting. Dammit! He was supposed to be the one fighting, not her. Not in her injured state. He felt a wide array of emotions at this point. Fear, anger, desperation, it all bubbled inside his heart. He knew for certain that he had to help her somehow. He had to get to the surface.

As he left the tunnel, he was greeted with the sight of the woods once again. He could hear footsteps at the distance, closing in on his position. Thinking quickly he climbed a tree and concealed his presence with the leaves and branches. He could see one person emerging from the foliage. His eyes narrowed upon seeing the emblem on the cloak. He equipped his pistol and deposited his blunderbuss and rifle. He gripped his pistol tightly and readied it's bladed edge. Without a second thought, he jumped down upon the unsuspecting grunt. They both fell to the ground and had a little struggle. He slashed the grunt's throat, arms and chest. As the grunt slowly drowned in his own blood, Aldaris couldn't help but throw out a flurry of punches to the grunt's face. After a couple of minutes of continuous punching, he stopped and took a deep breath. The grunt wasn't even twitching anymore and his face was unrecognizable.

After calming down, he inspected the body. He saw the markings on the man's arms. It was unfamiliar to him; but he could tell the man was a bender. He took out a small vial from his satchel and filled it with the man's blood. This could be useful in the future. He stored the blood on his pack and wiped his bloodied hands on the dead grunt's cloak. He stood up and hid his pistol. He grabbed his blunderbuss and held it at the ready. He heard shuffling from behind and pointed his blunderbuss at the approaching figure. He recognize the figure; it was Isi, she looked haggard but relatively fine.

He rushed to her side, slinging her arm on his shoulder while he encircled her waist with his right arm. They needed to get out of there...fast. "Isi, thank the makers you're safe. We have to get out of here. This place isn't safe anymore."He said as his eyes scanned their surroundings. Slowly but surely, they made their way away from the area.

"Yeah I kind of figured that. Listen Aldaris, this group that is after you is involved somehow with a higher up of the Earth Tribe. We can't talk about it now but I needed to let you know. I'm sorry I left you as well, I distracted the person and I came back." Isi took in a shaky breath and was thankful for Aldaris' support, "Down that path there is no one. We must go quickly." She pointed in front of them and began to head that way. Isi bit down on her lip as she decided to ignore her side. She very well knew she had opened the slash up again but they could not stop now. Aldaris was probably already worried sick about her so she kept it to herself and focused on keeping up with him as they ran ahead. At one point, her vision was starting to get clouded by black dots as her side away from Aldaris was soaked through, she stumbled but tried to remain up right, she knew that falling behind could cost them both their lives. Isi's breaths came in gulps and her wound could no longer go unnoticed, "A-Aldaris please h-help." She clung onto his shirt getting blood on it with out noticing, "I-I'm sorry I'm s-so weak. It's all my fault you have to d-drag m-me around everywhere."

Seeing her in such a state caused his body to move on autopilot. "Isi!" was all he said, his voice filled with fear. He quickly led her to a large tree and had her sit down. He quickly took out a small bottle of clean water, a small container filled with medicinal paste, a couple of clean rags, and some bandages from his supply satchel. He slowly lifter her clothes in order to inspect her bleeding injury. It was bad. Her wounds were caked with dirt, were badly reopened and they looked worse than before. "Hang in there, Isi. You're going to be alright."

He took her bloodied shirt off. He doesn't want to risk her wounds getting infected which would worsen her condition. He gently undid the bloodied bandages before cleaning the wounded area with water. After cleaning the caked layer of blood off her wounds, he applied the medical paste on it to stop further infection and to better clean the wound. He saw her flinch at the contact of the medicine; he softly whispered comforting words to her as he spread the medicine to cover every area on and around the wound. When this was done he gently but firmly wrapped the fresh bandage around her body. He noticed that there were little patches of blood seeping from the bandages. He sighed with relief, the medicine was working at least.

After everything calmed down, he noticed her state of undress. He averted his eyes, a light dusting of red formed on his face before he took off his cloak. He was really grateful about the cloak, luckily it wasn't forgotten at the cave. He draped it on her, before he closed a couple of the buttons to help keep her modesty.

He slowly pulled her up and placed his arm around her to support her while her arm was secured around his shoulders. Slowly the pair made their way down the path. He held her closer, his heart screamed at him to keep her there. He was so close to losing her...it scared him so much.

"You aren't weak, Isi, and you aren't at fault. You were very brave. You saved my life twice today in expense of your own. My own stupidity of not noticing that danger was upon us caused all this. It was my fault and it is I who should be sorry. I should be sorry for not being able to protect you. For failing you." As this was said, the pair made their way down the quiet path. There was no danger at the moment, but they still kept their guard up.

Everything was a blur when Aldaris patched her wounds up. She didn't notice he had taken her shirt off and didn't notice his embarrassment either. Isi flinched and let out a half hearted, "Ouch" when the medicine touched her skin. All of a sudden she was up and walking with Aldaris' cloak on her and her arm slung around the man himself, "I..." She was going to respond to the sad words Aldaris had just said but let out a giggle instead , lightheaded from blood loss and for some reason thinking it was funny that they were in this position once again, "I like this cloak. And don't be sad because Isi is here to save you!" She stated as she closed her eyes. She leaning her head on his shoulder and stumbled while she walked, "Can we go home now?" Isi's thoughts mushed together and were all jumbled in her brain, she just spewed out words. She looked up to Aldaris' face, "Can you take me home, sir? You look like a nice young man." Her eyes probably looked clouded over and her face pale from blood loss as she crumpled into dead weight in his arms. Her grip on his shoulders vanished and she finally lost consciousness. Isi had pushed herself to stay awake and could take it no longer once the bleed came to a slow.
