The center of the north continent. People can go here freely, however most people stay more near their tribes. Legend says that Shi is chained deep under here. The Dark Tribe meets here, in the middle of a winding forest, at night.

Under normal circumstances, Eli didn't think she'd be here. But then again, these were not normal circumstances. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she sat up slowly from where she slept on the ground. She groaned, she'd slept uncomfortably. Her entire body ached. It was an accident really, the killing. And it was an impulsive decision to call herself a hunter. So, she needed a break from it all and she'd somehow carried herself here.
Eli stood, dusting and shaking the dirt from her clothes and hair as she did so. She looked around, squinting as the sun hit her eyes between her bangs. Her hair was getting long again, she sighed in frustration. Her looking like a man had become less of a matter of convenience to avoid any added pressure, but more now because it was easier for her. Eli liked easy.
She took her hunting knife from her belt and started to cut at her hair, sighing and mumbling to herself about how low her life had become in the last few weeks.

"Bloody brilliant." He gasped, trying to find leverage on his set of tired lungs.
This is complete and utter shite.
Brushing away his sweat matted hair, Cole gripped his arm, the fabric of his sleeve torn and bloodied. Despite his rising aggravation, a smile tugged at his lips as he found humor in the absurdity of the whole mess. He began his venture as a simple merchant, selling what little he had to fund his search. A chill spread throughout his skin as ice broke out, covering his arm with a thin layer. Slumping against a nearby tree, he let the hushed sounds of the forest lull his descending heart rate.

Maybe it was the paranoia that had built up over the last few days, but it was as if every little sound was heightened, louder as they popped against her ears. She finished hacking away at her bangs, lowering the knife but still holding it out before her. Eli had heard something, she was sure of it. It could just be an animal or something, she was in the forest after all. But if only to keep her life from taking an ever worse turn she had to at least investigate.
"Hello...?" she called out. Although she refused to move from where she stood.

Past a few shrubs and bushes, his unwavering gaze was set on her, observing her. As she had finally seemed to realize his presence, he smiled as they met eyes. "Shame." He bluntly called out, "Aren't woman more sensitive when it comes to hair." Gaze flickering to the knife in her hand, his pale eyes seemed to smile in the raising sun.

Eli sneered. It's not like she particularly hated being outed as a woman but she still didn't like it. It usually didn't happen, seen she was tall and had a boyish figure as well as one of those voices that most couldn't place. She didn't correct the stranger however, because he technically wasn't wrong and as of right now that was the last of her concerns.
Still, Eli held the knife out in front of her. It was still uncertain which way things would go.
"I wouldn't know," she said.

Cole scratched his jaw, his crystal eyes peering up at the sky. Was I wrong?
Nonetheless, this stranger had pointed their weapon at him. Threatened him. Jumping to his feet, all pleasantries escaped him, his expression darkening. The stranger was tall, however Cole loomed over, his height towering. The frost on his arm had begun to crack, and Cole subtly winced at his tired limbs. Despite it, he stood straight, cocking his head at her as if accepting her challenge.

Eli threw her head back and groaned. "Fuck," she muttered under her breath. This was the last thing she needed. She'd only just woken and and she had spent the past couple of days wandering around and just trying to get away from her house where she'd left the dead body. She lowered the knife more and held up her other hand in surrender but Eli was still weighing her options. She wouldn't attack first but she was still readying to protect herself.
"Alright easy now. I don't want any trouble. It's been a long week and this--" She gestured to the knife and to him. "--Is the last thing I need."

He looked as if he were about to lunge, bare handed yet capable of shredding limbs. "Okay, sure."
Leaning forward, he clapped his hands onto his knees and breathed in deeply. There were splinters in the way he took in air. He was parched and too tired for confrontation, relieving in their mutuality. Despite the Northern continent being the neutral area, he still felt wary.
Though, admittedly, I was the intruder. He thought as he stared up at the stranger with a small frown.
"Hey- know of any rivers here?"

Eli hesitated before putting her knife back in her belt. She narrowed her eyes, still a bit suspicious but too worn out herself to want to push things any further. She didn't feel quite safe, but most of her regards for safety had flown out the window the past week. "There should be one up ahead."
Eli nodded in the direction of where she guessed the closest body of water was. She was sure she passed a river the day or so before she settled down in this random patch of the woods to rest. "Are you...alright?" Eli couldn't call herself concerned, it just seemed like the right thing to ask to someone who very much did not look okay.

Looking irritated, Cole straightened again. "Are you okay." He growled, clenching his teeth. Clearly, he hated being called out for being vulnerable. Raising a apologetic hand, he rubbed his face with the other, almost embarrassed. "Sorry, thanks. It was a long night." He glanced around and eyed her strange.
"And you.. this isn't the ideal camp."

"The intention wasn't to set up camp. I was just fucking tired." Eli rolled her eyes. Strictly speaking she had not even really thought of that. It was more that she collapsed of exhaustion and didn't move because it would take too much effort. Sure, terrible things could happen to a person sleeping alone in the forest at night, but Eli hadn't thought about that either. She didn't have the time.
"Sorry," she said as she rubbed her temples, feeling the beginnings of a massive headache coming. "It's been a long night for me too. And I was just asking because..." Because you look terrible would not make the situation any better. "But I'm certainly not alright."
Not that she wanted to have a personal conversation with a stranger, she just needed to admit that.

His brow raised at her, and he shook his head, raising his palms in mock defense. "Aren't we miserable pricks." Dry humor lit his darkened eyes, and he motioned for a hug- an embrace. Sarcastically pitying their pathetic asses, of course.
"Well, where you heading? Because so far, I'm assuming you're left at a dead end."

"So first we almost attack each other and now you want to hug me? At this rate we should get drunk later." Whatever, Eli was beyond caring at this moment. She accepted his hug, at least in a half-hearted one-armed hug kind of way. If only because she had a thing for being clean and right now she must smelled a bit musty.
Eli scratched the back of her head as she thought. "I guess I'm heading forward, which hasn't been working for me." Her initial plan was just to get away from the accidentally dead body and any possible accusations. She'd accomplished that and was now, like he said, at a dead end.

He looked down at her and chuckled, "I was kidding," but followed through with the hug anyways. Deeming her hopeless, he bit back a laugh. "Okay, accompany me."
Despite being a total tool and preferring to move on his own, (in irritation that the other was too slow or tired) he wasn't about to leave someone on their own. Out in the woods, where there were dark tribes, and she was exhausted. A drink sounded nice too. Fuck, I wouldn't mind getting smashed.
