Wow, you actually live nearby. I'm also in the metro Detriot area.

It's like any people though that use their religiosity to validate their ideology and behavior. It will moderate itself after a couple generations here in the US. Good people use religion to do good things and bad people use religion to do bad things. We're all aware of just how differently religion can be interpreted. As more of the Arab people assimilate to the American culture and state while becoming educated the religious reasoning will decrease in favor of knowledge and new ideas. Religion is best suited in moderation and those people use it for well and good. The problem isn't the religion, but people's lack of knowing better and thus turning to use religion as a tool to excuse themselves as well as a means of simple validation for their presupposed ideas.

Religion isn't the problem, because it's always been what people make of it. People are the problem. Religion is just a tool that can be used one way or another.

I agree 100% on that point. People are the problem, not the religion. The change must come from inside Islam and not outside Islam if its going to be truly meaningful

Islam ain't even bad, like, at all.
Those are just extremists, not actual Muslims who follow the practices of Islam.

Its a pretty cool & chill religion.

President Barack Obama hailed the passengers as heroes: "It is clear that their heroic actions may have prevented a far worse tragedy," he said in a statement.

^ True, those passengers are no longer ordinary folks but heroes.

Had to delete a few posts. Due to a bug this means that a few posts will appear out of order. Sorry for the confusion, but it seemed preferable to letting the thread derail as the result of one person's offensiveness.

And I'm saying just cuz their are laws saying it is doesn't mean its from the actual practices of Islam. They just claim it is.

Like, literally nowhere in the Bible said anything about homosexuality being a sin, or its a sin to marry one of the same sex. So it shouldn't be illegal for their to be gay marriage.

The US & their laws were built off of extremist beliefs in Christianity. Which involved lots of terrorism too.
There are people, in both countries, stay true & follow the practices.
However, people who control/built the country, do not.

So if you want me to be more specific, these laws are based on extremist beliefs of Islam, which is not the true Islamic beliefs.

No, but their law IS based off islam. You cant argue interpretations because everyone thinks their interpretation is the right one.
And the bible indirectly talks about homosexuality you can't deny it. All religious texts have some horrid teachings and if read all the way through raises some eyebrows.
Now im not saying that you can't get some thing good out of their teachings or that anyone who practices the belifs are bad people, I'm saying that you can't deny their are less than kosher messages in religious texts.

Oh and I'd just like to say america was not founded on christian beliefs most of the founding fathers were deist's.

Interesting. My relations with our Arabic community have been generally friendly. (Different part of the country mind you.) One of them reminds me of Maes Hughes from FMA actually. [It's like, okay dude, we get it, your daughter learned how to walk. We know.]

Someone wiser than me said about gods, this:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

Epicurus of Samos (Greek philosopher, 341–270 BC.)

Religions as we understand, the main three, chistianity, judaism, and islam, have the same concept of god. It´s exactly the same, with few different rules due to the place their believers where living. That´s all.

They´re a way of control based on tradition. If you´re asked to believe in something before thinking about it, and you do, you´re just a puppet.

And what do they control?

Fear and sex.

What religion says is:
Fear God´s wrath if you do something "bad" as he, is the only one to save you in life, and when you die too. Oh, yeah, we will tell you, how to have sex. And what is true love, and what love is a sin.

This is what religion is, a way to tie up people.

Control of fear and control of sex inside a society makes the one(s) who own that power extremely powerful.

"Fear of Death is what created god". José Saramago, a famous portuguese novelist said that. And a lot of people did too.
Religions relieve of that fear. But death is part of life...

My life is mine, is not propierty of a fairy tale, we humans, made up to feel safe, and as an excuse for our own actions. Sorry.

All religions and all Gods must die!

I don't even need to say anything. You need help mate.

No, all religious people need help. They all need to be locked away for believing in an imaginary sky father called God. A Fairy Tale.

Intelligent and rational people can tolerate other beliefs, radicals try to purge all those that do not believe the same as them.

I wish I could upvote you somehow.

Extreminists beliefs of Islam.

Exactly. Yet why homosexualily is, and out of everything else it refers too, was seen as bad/a sin?
That's due to extremist beliefs of Christianity.

Also the thing like 99% of ppl like you that miss with reading about religions teachings & practices is that you're most likely reading it out if context, which makes it easy to interpret it wrongly.

I never said it was founded on Christian beliefs btw. Just that it was built around it.

How is it extremist if its a literal interpretation? They think they way they do because they take the bible/qu'ran at face value.

When people who know more about the bible than me say something I tend to believe them. I can't say "well I don't agree with that so your not following the religion right" they are reading the same thing and interpreting it the way they see it. The bible and qu'ran are filled with inconsistencies and absurdities there is no way around it.

Built around is the same thing as founded on basically.

The religion of peace, ya'll.

Biggest mistake Europe ever made was allowing mass immigration of Muslims of any race to the land they've wanted so long.

I'm waiting for the immigrants to be so bad that it causes the next Hitler to rise. History repeats itself and now we will have the opposing culture to foster it. I wonder what county will snap first.
