Do we actually die?
Posted 8/23/15 , edited 8/23/15
So here we go again. If anyone remembers my thread about existence, I am here to make another odd thread about death. It's 4:47 and my brain is at it again.

You may or may not have heard of the ideas and theories behind Schrodinger's cat and or Quantum Suicide. So I thought about them and put my own weird little mind into work.

What if you actually cannot and do not die?

Lets say you try to kill yourself (theoretically speaking), do you actually die? Looking at most peoples concept of death, yes you would if you succeed, obviously right? In quantum mechanics, observers can effect objects, the way the universe works, and there is also the idea of Schrodinger's cat too which basically the same thing. To the point though.
You die but do you die?
If the quantum Suicide idea is true, you infinitely live and die but live. You are there but not there because that is how quantum mechanics works in some idea. Basically particles can do the impossible at really microscopic levels. Like be at two places at once.

You basically die in one universe but live in another. What if this was the case with everything? You are you. There will be a universe where I am dead right now, but there is also this universe where I live right now. If you believe in the idea of parallel universes this doesn't seem like it's all that strange right? Sure, so you don't actually die from the suicide, but what happens if you live to the age where you will die of old age.
You simply don't. You are the odd one that breaks out of this apparent infinite loop of death. You die but do not die because of what I explained. Your conscious is the highest level of what you actually are. The you who survives all situations that would have killed you. You are the best of all outcomes because you are the one who cannot and does not die.

Discuss. Your thoughts on the idea that you do not die and you could possible be something that can't be understood.

TL.DR: You do not actually die, the universe just splits when you were to die, causing an infinite loop of something that would have killed you but didn't kill you. You cannot die. Discuss any idea of this.
TL,DR 2 - I am god

There is no "you". What we take for granted as our "selves" is only a collection of beliefs strung together into a sort of house of cards structure of thoughts. In reality, there are just things happening and sensations playing like a movie, with pure consciousness as it's witness.

I'm not sure. Are we really alive right now? Is there only one living being that exists and we're all just multiple personalities? We can't and will never know the truth. Someone is behind all of this.

This is why I chose to study Biology... You are a single inconspicuous organism which will die when you are dead...

Right now, we are only able to observe one universe. And in this universe, "People die if they are killed. That's the way it should be".

Yes but in all seriousness, I absolutely agree with you, and I'm really curious about other replies.

I do believe that ghosts exist. Nobody knows what happens after we die. I don't fear death because I know death is inevitable.

There is the theory that time is its own dimension. Unlike the accepted concept of time where it always flows in one direction, linearly, this theory is that time is merely just a smattering of one brief moment layered upon the next, and the next, etc. it therefore would follow that time is not linear, but a tangible dimension where going between two points in time would mean you making a right turn at Albuquerque, albeit in a smaller and not literal sense.

Too hard to comprehend - Watch "Interstellar". The part near the end where time is shown as merely just being different levels of moments all connected but on different levels is perhaps as accurate of a visual representation of this theory as you'll get.

If this theory is true, then, no one ever dies and no one is ever born. You exist in perhaps several hundred thousand frames of time and yet, in many billions more, you do not.

Good thread.
