Proxmate, a proxy service for select sites including Crunchyroll, had their server's IP (96.47.231.194) banned today. I am one of the people who uses Proxmate, mainly because half of the shows aren't available for my country.
In all likelihood this will be resolved sooner or later, but I still want to know why this happened - was it an automated thing or was it deliberate and if so why.

I too hope this will be fixed. That or we will have to look for a different proxy in order to enjoy more anime.

I do sympathize with being region-blocked and agree with the sentiment involved with that, but the world is an unfair place...

Region restrictions are something that the publisher/supplier inflicts on legit streaming sites so that they (think) they can maximize their bottom line by charging for the rights in multiple areas of the world. It isn't something that CR wants to enforce, they would literally love to have rights everywhere. It is something they must do to conform with their contract or they will not keep the licence or even possibly get future ones.

You are/were using a method that violates the terms of service for using Crunchyroll and you come here to complain about it? This is the help area where officials from the site do monitor for problems, so don't be surprised if you suddenly find yourself without an account doing that. At the very least, threads like this often get closed or deleted, and I'm a bit surprised that this one hasn't been acted on already.
