This is disturbing news. This system encourages people to borrow more student debt and then promote non payment. People who should pay back get to walk away from their debt and likely never understand how to pay back loans. Then banks can encourage them to borrow more.

Americans have become infants, babies, children who want more but can't control themselves.

It amazes me that people get surprised about how our tax dollars are being wasted.... it's government, they've always wasted our tax dollars and will continue to do so regardless

There's a few things that don't make sense. I'm reading it takes more than the expected 3 years [up to 6 years] for students to graduate college. That's a bit crazy. Maybe a cap on how much students can borrow might help.

I'm not saying this system is perfect and probably has be more narrow in scope for need positions in public service (like low paid public defenders, MDs who work in family medicine, civilian military jobs). However the real crime is the amount that you have to pay for university in the 1st place. Not to mention the cost of interest on student loans is twice of what it should be. The baby boomers got to go to university for the cost of jack and s--- but when its time for the next generation to go to school LOL no, daddy wants a capital gains cut. The fact that most public universities in the state you live in now cost 15-25K/year is just ridiculous.

Take the excess money going into the military since there is no war.

Put it in education

Because you can get your wages garnished and cannot be forgiven for student loans even if you file for bankruptsy there is no reason why a student loan should be twice what a car or home loan is. There is pretty much a 100% chance that the loan issuer will eventually get their money.

The US provides stability worldwide. If we cut military spending. Dictators would carve up random spheres of influence. You should be thanking us for all we have done to promote peace.

That is true but the US shouldn't be responsible for everyone else.
The situation the US has itself in is there own fault for helping to many people at there own expense sadly to say.

That being said im sure people are thankful for the help but everything comes with a cost even peace.

I mean the US could save a great deal of money by cutting defense. However at what cost to the rest of the world.
