Spice and Wolf creator: There will be no third season
Posted 8/23/15

As for the next question, I was instructed by several fans of the anime series to find out one thing; if not I would go back to them in shame.

Would there be a third season of Spice and Wolf, the anime?

“Unfortunately… No.”

Well, my friends, there you have it! Now you can stop speculating as to whether there will be a third season!

The source article is long but read through it if you'd like, it's a good read --

But Isuna isn't the one making the anime.

Personally I can't get into light novels. Something lost in translation maybe but every one I've tried has felt like I was reading a script or outline not a novel.

At least in this case I'd long given up hope of a third season and tracked down the one spoiler I wanted but yeah medium substitution is not always a perfect solution for me.

Those who can't read the Japanese books, duh.
And the fan translation on suck ass. The sao progressive official translation I bought at Barnes and nobles was great read.

Yen Press currently has released up to volume 14 or 15 of the light novel, so there's no need to learn japanese or deal with poor fan translations.

Sad, but totally expected at this point. For those above banging on back and forth about anime vs light novel vs medium of choice, you all need to remember that what attracts each individual to a given worth varies widely person to person. For those that read the LNs first you got to see what you'd imagined come to life, which is always a great experience. However, for those of us who first encountered it as an anime, our attachment began with sound and light and motion, with Holo flirting and whispering in our ears. Hard to reengage the imagination and go back to text after that, no matter how good the material.

I plan to purchase the S&W LNs when they finish releasing the final volumes, but no matter how good they are it just won't be the same without the excellent art, superb voice acting, beautiful and interesting music, and of course an animated Holo.

That's a bummer for the fans, I wish he gave us more details than just, "Unfortunately... no."

How popular is the series in Japan anyways?
