NYC teen kills father after finding out he sexually abused relative
Posted 8/23/15
Brooklyn teen accused of stabbing his father to death was told before the fatal encounter that the dad sexually abused a female relative.

While the dad, Mohammad Razzaq, was in Pakistan on business, the female relative told 19-year-old Hassan that she was molested for years by Mohammad...

Mohammad, 56, unexpectedly returned from the trip on July 18 and shouted at another woman in the family for wearing shorts and "not covering up like a good Muslim,"...

Hassan was inside his bedroom...Mohammad was "asleep in the living room on a bed" when he attacked...

The father tried to get up and the son "kicked him to the ground" and stabbed him again...

Razzaq then alerted others in the house that he just killed his father and fled....

"In essence, my client has been in jail his whole life and we want to get him out," said [his lawyer].

Good for him, the one time I would agree with an honor killing.

This is an interesting one. If true he definitely doesn't deserve a murder conviction. With the circumstances surrounding this, I'd say he isn't really a threat. It's likely that he had a rough life so I believe something like mandatory psychiatry, psychologist etc visits would be a good starting point, he just needs freedom from the many things he may have encountered in his life. Tough to say really, as we can only get so much out of this article.

Assuming the abuse is true and assuming the eye for an eye customs they tend to have in that culture is true, then I see nothing wrong with him killing the guy. A bit drastic, even for their cultural rules, but whatever. At least he did it for a good reason.

I don't think any jury will convict him for murder under the circumstances. Possibly manslaughter or even temporary insanity (due to the father's attitude to the second female relative). The kid's fuse got lit by an abusive father, whether verbally, mentally or physically the courts will take it into consideration.

Well damn. If the father was like that then the son has a pretty legit reason imo.
