Has anyone else watched the first episode today? Was a little boring at first but by the end it was starting to pick up and hopefully more stuff will be happening in the next episode. This season is only 6 episodes so 1 down 5 to go.

One thing a lot of people fail to take into consideration is we do have to get a real feel for these characters. Six episodes doesn't seem like a lot--you're right--but they also have to make their audiences have a connection with these characters within a short amount of time. A lot of viewers just want it to jump into the thick of it. I'm not going to lie, it's really interesting when there's a lot of action-packed scenes that involve zombies.

But the build up? Even if some of you find it slow, it's worth it. We learn that Cody is rebellious and has a mind of his own with no real disregard for the feelings of others. He doesn't have a reaction to the pain he's causing his mother--and where is his father? His mother, Nancy, kinda likes to meddle and be in the thick of it. She seems to get a good read on people and has a passion to help which makes it interesting that she's unable to really help her son. Her boyfriend (husband-to-be?) is trying to help and he's obviously the one guided by his own morals...

We're getting a feel for these characters and it's a perfect way to learn about them in stressful situations. One of the things I have always liked about TWD and what I hope they implement in FtWD is the human element. I enjoy the social aspect, the inability to trust--the desire to trust and to be wrong. The fact that they learn from these experiences and that it affects their future interactions. I enjoy watching the chaos around the characters literally mess with their head and their sanity. I like to watch them grow into a better, and sometimes a worse, person.

So when you say "hopefully more stuff will be happening in the next episode" think about what that means to you and what you want to see. Do you just want to see people smashing in zombie skulls or do you want to go along for the psychological ride and put yourself in their shoes? This isn't a game where if you die you can start the level over at the beginning with another chance. Each decision has to mean something, has to be weighed.

Boring as shit, honestly. Regular Walking sucks too, but I've seen it all because my girlfriend likes it.

So far, I like it.

I can see why people point out the slow pace so far, but it shows the monotony of everyday life and how a normal (typically boring) family would react and deal.

My family would probably act the same.
