It's about more than just growing up. It's also about the changes in anime. As more and more money is put into animes' budgets as they become more profitable, the anime quality soars. It is at once, hope inspiring and disturbing to think that the animes we watch now, will one day be considered crap as well.

some that I can't think of at the top of my head had bad art. I rewatched Zoids and the voices where all weird, and not how I remembered them. (was before I streamed) But most that I have watched were awsome because I only watch awsome anime.

I watched some of the old animes in CR and wondered if I would have loved those shows a lot when I was a kid, I suspect the answer would be yes as even old animes tended to be less childish then their western counterpart.

I always knew Voltron was a bad show, but after seeing an episode on Boomerang the other night I realized I never noticed HOW bad it was!

Yes I would still watch it today, thank you very much!

You're half right. What really revolutionized anime was the integration of computers into animation. Anime these days are no longer hand-drawn and colored as they were before 1998 or so. Once computers were brought in, it was easy for animators to produce crisp lines and rich colors all the time, rather than waiting for an OVA or movie to pump up the artwork.

Although one can't help but wonder if the medium lost something good as a result.

It's called growing up. I guess Astro boy isn't as nice as I thought it was. Kinda let down

I used to think Cardcaptors (C.C.S) was the best thing in the world when I was little.
I also LOVED Pokemon. Now I'm just thinking Does it ever end?!

I remember watching Sailormoon, DBZ and Digimon. Now that I look back I can't believe that I actually watched some of those cartoons especially DBZ, all the screaming and no action...

Nope, in fact it looks far better compared to most of the junk we have now. I miss the good stuff.
