So I'm starting college tomorrow and wanted to know if anyone had any interesting stories or experiences from their first day or even from their first few weeks of college.

Anything wacky or interesting happen to you? Anybody interesting you've met? Were your professors interesting or even insane? Any interesting roommate stories from when you first met?

Just wanted to make a fun, interesting thread for the heck of it. I'll post any stories I have if anything happens to me tomorrow or in the first few weeks.

I'm sure at least one person will burn popcorn while microwaving it, and like 10 people will be in the shower , and the fire alarm will ring, and you'll have to walk out of your dorm, into the cold night with nothing but a towel on. --happens all the time in Frosh dorms

My friends and I were running full speed back to our apartment, shouting and arms full of beer; and with how dark our apartment was, we didn't see the 6-7 cops right out front of it until we were a few feet away from them. And we just flew past them.

Cop yells "Hey"
Friends and I stop running.
Me: *oh shit*
----Long Pause-----
Cop: "You're gonna shake up all that beer"

Granted I was over 21 at that point so I wasn't worried about the cops checking my license.
I have tons of stories from partying in college and this is one of the shorter ones.

As for actual school, I've got nothing, it was really boring.

We played a game of Hide and Seek on campus at like 10 pm and one of my "friends" from work was there, yet he didn't even go to my university. Anyways the funny thing he was there was that he was carrying a bag of box wine, like no box at all, just the bag it comes in. Still so hilarious when I think about it

I'll one up you on the burnt popcorn, in my apartment I learned that you can not use the microwave to dry your clothes off. My socks suffered from spontaneous combustion.

My socks were soaking wet and I think the logic was "If paper towels are fine in the microwave, then socks should be fine as well". Which was definitely not the case.

And it was in my college apartment, reeked the whole place up.

wow. that sounds rough. Tbh, what if you microwaved your socks in 3-second increments, and like turned them over once in a while or something :D

Which would be the smart thing to do, but I just clicked the 1-min button. And It wasn't much of a gradual fire (match to a piece of paper), more like an erupting fireball. I'm sure there is a right way to do it, but I don't feel like testing that out.

My first quarter I had a really cool English professor with the Skrillex half buzz cut and dyed red hair, along with a couple tattoos. Her syllabus was titled "English 3: Books that hate you too" which was probably the best thing I saw that quarter. Throughout the quarter there were days where we just weren't discussing much and she just sent us home early.

She also made fun of Justin Beiber as part of one of the lectures, which was pretty great.

Well, one of my female friends got kicked out of the student union for "mounting a girl." That's about it.

My first year was pretty hilarious. I ended up living in four different dorms unofficially since I hated the one assigned to me due to the weed-smoking, constantly drunk roomie who blasted rap all the time. And his friends barged into the room at 4am when I was dead tired and trying to sleep.

I ended up hiking up a mountain during the winter after a rainstorm in a robe and slippers, getting food poisoning that lasted 3 days, living underneath someone's bed, getting mistaken as a resident by another dorm's RA, having my first kiss and my first girlfriend, radically changing my hairstyle, staying up all night every 2 or 3 days, walking on a bad street at midnight, shamelessly taking advantage of any free meal or free anything, almost getting killed by an exploding juice bottle, dealing with a massive fly infestation, sleeping in someone's shower room and on top of their refrigerator.

Just the tip of the iceberg. First day of college was when I met new people that I don't remember but they remembered me even though I stopped living in the dorm I was supposed to be in. I'd often be on campus and someone would say hi to me. I'd wave back but be thinking about why some stranger knew my name. I once asked a girl that question and the response was, "Dude, I'm your neighbor at the dorm!"

I didn't have too many problems with a fire alarm until my second year. I lived in school apartments with a roomie and I was the first in the year to set off the alarm. I was using a cast iron to sear a steak and forgot about the fire alarm and didn't open a window. The firemen came and complimented me on the nice looking steak and left. We ended up covering the smoke detector with a bag, although my roomie somehow triggered the alarm by burning popcorn. Three times. I also triggered the smoke detector once by taking a really hot bath for a long time.

Just off the top of my head...

The fire alarm went off twice a week.

I actually microwaved a metal can (aheh...) and made a mini fireworks show

aaand I saw a guy on a unicycle chasing a squirrel around.

I also walked in on no less than 3 of my roommate's "guests" changing in my living room.
