wow. that sounds rough. Tbh, what if you microwaved your socks in 3-second increments, and like turned them over once in a while or something :D

Which would be the smart thing to do, but I just clicked the 1-min button. And It wasn't much of a gradual fire (match to a piece of paper), more like an erupting fireball. I'm sure there is a right way to do it, but I don't feel like testing that out.

Oh my goodness that's fantastic XD. I'd be panicking if there was a fireball in my microwave.

The only thing I've ever blown up in a microwave are old DVDs.

Let's just be glad it wasn't a potato

My first year was pretty hilarious. I ended up living in four different dorms unofficially since I hated the one assigned to me due to the weed-smoking, constantly drunk roomie who blasted rap all the time. And his friends barged into the room at 4am when I was dead tired and trying to sleep.

I ended up hiking up a mountain during the winter after a rainstorm in a robe and slippers, getting food poisoning that lasted 3 days, living underneath someone's bed, getting mistaken as a resident by another dorm's RA, having my first kiss and my first girlfriend, radically changing my hairstyle, staying up all night every 2 or 3 days, walking on a bad street at midnight, shamelessly taking advantage of any free meal or free anything, almost getting killed by an exploding juice bottle, dealing with a massive fly infestation, sleeping in someone's shower room and on top of their refrigerator.

Just the tip of the iceberg. First day of college was when I met new people that I don't remember but they remembered me even though I stopped living in the dorm I was supposed to be in. I'd often be on campus and someone would say hi to me. I'd wave back but be thinking about why some stranger knew my name. I once asked a girl that question and the response was, "Dude, I'm your neighbor at the dorm!"

I didn't have too many problems with a fire alarm until my second year. I lived in school apartments with a roomie and I was the first in the year to set off the alarm. I was using a cast iron to sear a steak and forgot about the fire alarm and didn't open a window. The firemen came and complimented me on the nice looking steak and left. We ended up covering the smoke detector with a bag, although my roomie somehow triggered the alarm by burning popcorn. Three times. I also triggered the smoke detector once by taking a really hot bath for a long time.

Throughout this forum, I've been seeing fire as a common theme. Those are some interesting stories though; I'd like to hear more about them if you don't mind, particularly your long hike up the mountain, the exploding juice bottle and the fly infestation. How many flies are we talking about also?

Just off the top of my head...

The fire alarm went off twice a week.

I actually microwaved a metal can (aheh...) and made a mini fireworks show

aaand I saw a guy on a unicycle chasing a squirrel around.

I also walked in on no less than 3 of my roommate's "guests" changing in my living room.

A guy on a unicycle chasing a squirrel? Have to admit, that's a first. Was there any reason for it or was he doing it just to do it?

Hmm...Freshman year my roomie and I got a hamster (animals weren't allowed in the dorms) and one day he decided to go on an adventure. Thank goodness one of the few girls that knew about him, found him running around the bathroom and not the RA. It was funny though.
First day of my sophomore year, I went to class with a beautiful and fresh black eye because I got into a fight the day before. I'm sure my embarrassment was in my own head and everyone really thought I was a super cool trendsetter.

My first night at college, a tropical storm hit and knocked out the power to our dorms. That wouldn't normally have been a huge problem, since there was a backup generator to power essential things like emergency lighting and fire alarms, but an electrical fire earlier that day had taken out the backup generator, so we all had to evacuate to (in the middle of the storm) halfway across campus to one of the buildings that still had power.

Thanks for the stories; they were really entertaining to read They might have been bad experiences then, but it must be nice to have some good stories to tell now, at least I hope so.

Because I'm the OP and I said I would say something about my first day of college (today), I did meet two people, but otherwise, it was a pretty ordinary day. My nutrition professor did show a really depressing film about processed meat and chickens, though...it was informative, but I feel that it'll be hard to eat chicken for the next few days >_<

From the first weeks? Let's see,,,
There was a guy on campus who had a full suit of armour and loved to wear it around. He looked badass.

Saw about... 60% of a class leave because they signed up for the "advanced" one.

Couple in the apartment beside mine also had their bed pressed up against the wall, so when they were... "going at it" shall we say, I could hear it perfectly, so one time I started blasting metal music from my speakers. Never heard from them again.

Oh, and a car that had smoke billowing from the open windows. No idea what the smoke was from...

Just to be doing it probably. There's this park with a lot of zigzagging paths and lots of squirrels, he looked like he was going somewhere at first but decided to chase around a squirrel that happened to get in the way. It was a bizarre sight but pretty funny.

That is fantastic Honestly, if I was skilled enough to ride a unicycle, I'd probably see if I could do it too.

I met this guy who was the best friend of one of my acquaintances at the time. In his drunken stupor, he somehow convinced me that it would be a stellar idea to take acid together. I was reluctant, but he kept insisting and being naive and curious, I took it off his finger and tripped until 8 in the morning. Looking back (wasn't too long ago) , it was a pretty stupid idea but I had this weird fascination for him and his quirky demeanor. After plunging into the most vivid whirlpool of colors and emotions, I was transported back into reality. I have no desire to do it again because I don't want to hinder the spectacular, other-worldly memories I have.

TLDR: Took acid for the first (and last) time on a whim with a guy I barely knew and got lost in the forest for hours. We stayed up talking all night about everything under the sun and moon.
