Anyone else go through a period of consuming loads and then find you have run out of stuff that you want to watch?

I'm fairly new to anime(this time around years ago I was into 3x3 eyes and ninja scroll etc) and have enjoyed the lighter fun stuff so Naruto, Naruto Shipuuden, Bleach, kenichi strongest disciple, fairytail, gintama... I LOVED hunter X Hunter! MAKE MORE DAMMIT.

But now I'm up to date there isn't really much that's grabbing my fancy.

What's anyone else's longest break and what pulled you back in?

Try switching up the stuff you watch like trying new genres and such. Look for a deeper story or go for some slice of life and there's always CGDCT (Cute Girls Doing Cute Things).

I'll tell you something that someone told me that someone might say to you anyways.

Just watch more anime

If you like shounen like that you should definitely watch Magi.

There's a lot of anime you can start trying.

My longest break was probably like about a year or so, I only got into watching so much right now because I subscribed.

For like 3 months after I had just gotten into anime. I watched AoT then nothing for 3 months, then I watched nichijou and then had another 3 month break before starting to watch tons of anime

It's less running out of things to watch and more I'm just bored of watching it. Usually ends after a week or two.

That sums it up, aside from work, watching sports/motorsports, and some live action shows like Mythbusters and Hotel Impossible

I do like the simple advice of well to watch more anime... Watch more anime! :)

It's a personal thing but I struggle to get into new stuff kind of have to force myself through the first 5 or 6 episodes and not always in the mood for that.

These guys are right: watch more. If you're looking for new stuff, ask for recs. Look into similar shows. Try new genres. Hell, I get most of my interest in shows from watching AMVs. Just be aware that some editors are very good and can make a bad show look good.

I haven't really had a weak stretch. My backlog is loaded.

Not really. I sometimes go into periods where I don't watch anything, but that's because I'm too busy with something else.

Usually find at least 3-4 shows to watch each season, and I got lots of other shows to check up on that I've been recommended previously.

Watched over 200 anime series, OVAs and films so I feel rather confident in what I want from an anime.

Just came back from a 1 month anime hiatus and its actually pretty useful in these situations. I find that I miss out on some interesting things and unexpected shows that came out of nowhere show up. Shimoneta really pulled me back in. If you binge watch I think a break is mandatory every once in a while. It might be difficult if you don't have another major hobby though.
