Running on an iPhone 6, iOS 8.2.

For the past 3-4 days or so I've had this issue where I'll choose a video, load it up, watch the first ad, then when the episode should start to play I get nothing. It just tries to load for about 30 seconds before the network activity thing in the top left (there's probably a technical term for that, the rotating wheel thing is what I mean) disappears. The video looks like it's still trying to load but nothing happens.

It's not a network/connection issue - I've tried on both 4G and high speed wifi (~150MB/s) with neither doing anything. The app used to be fine, and I'd been watching stuff regularly for the last few weeks through it, but it just stopped recently. I noticed the app had an update available, so I downloaded that hoping it'd fix things, but obviously it didn't. Incidentally, a lot of people in the reviews for the newest update have commented on it stopping working with the new update, so there may be something there.

I've not seen any official word of yet to say there's an issue, but there clearly is - what's happening with this problem?

Worth noting that I don't seem to have any issues with my laptop, it's just my phone.

I hate to give an almost stereotypical tech answer but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? That helps a lot of the time. I'll go ahead and drop a link to the most common fixes. The DNS change in the article tends to help many people. https://crunchyroll.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205196005-Basic-Video-Help-iOS-

Hopefully this will help you out but please keep us posted on this issue

Uninstalling and reinstalling worked the first time I tried it, but when I actually sat down to watch something it didn't work any more. Reinstalling made no differences after that first time.

The DNS thing didn't work either - it did the same thing, worked first time, but when I closed the player to open a different video I got stuck in the same loading loop. After tying google's DNS I tried the OpenDNS address and that didn't even work once.

I dunno if it's just a coincidence that it's worked after those changes but something else is clearly the problem. As I said in the original post though, it doesn't work on 4G or Wifi, so DNS couldn't really fix it.
