Post Reply I read a lot of opinions saying that women are encouraged to express emotions freely, but I find that laughable.

I try not to show to much emotion, no one around me is understanding enough to feel any sympathy or basic compassion to make showing emotions worth while :\

What's the point of this thread?

Not only women but men are also looked down upon when they show these feelings.

However, compared to men, women have more freedom with their emotions.

I think men have more restrictions in society because the usual "men don't cry" double standard is applied to them only. Women can cry in public and people would look down on it just because we don't like to deal with negative emotions but it will be accepted and the women will not be judged whereas guys crying in public would be ridiculous for many people "what a pussy!", "man up", "faggot" etc.

Men are supposed to bottle up their emotions because society doesn't think it is "manly" to show emotions like women do. I see this more of a problem than complaining about a few people who don't like when women are crying, or angry.

Why bother hiding emotions as a guy i cry all the time when i'm sad :)

This, but never in public, only when alone or with my wife.
I always share my emotions with my wife.

How we express emotions isn't really determined by gender. Yes there are some that feel they have to be a certain way to be feminine or masculine but that doesn't go for everyone. In my upbringing, and in my community, it's frowned upon for crying (children included) except maybe at a funeral. It's a conservative way, stiff upper lip thing. In my branch of the family (matriarchal, women earned more than their spouses), we girls were told to be more mindful of my brother because boys are so sensitive. The girls were supposed to be more mature from very young to take what ever is thrown their way.

womens is almost always emotional. mainly angry, or jealous or some other petty emotion. expressing these emotions acknowledges their existence, which reflects poorly on the women because deep down women know they are revolting creatures.

this is natural because while men have loyalty and value their friends, women will always look for some cheap trick to get ahead of theirs. this isnt because women is stupid, although that could be a contributing factor, but rather because this is how the female hierarchy works.
