I know a year sounds like alot, but you do save a considerable amount of money for the period of time your subscribed. I have more than ten shows in my backlog here on CR and have about two or three simulcasts (most likely wont reach the new episodes anytime soon tho...) to watch as well. With my college classes coming up, I'll probably be able to watch about 5-8 episodes a week. I just bought a Samsung S6, so I will be using their mobile app to watch as well. What do you all think? Do you think there will be another dry spell for anime this year? Or do you think subscribing to Funimation is a better option? I'm also hoping the Android app will get the same updates as the IOS version, but I'm pretty sure that'll take some time.

I subscribe here and to Funimation, and find both worth it. Even if, as you say, you can only watch a certain number of shows per week, at least you'll be supporting the creators and the industry while you're watching. Even the full premium plus price of $99.95 isn't that much for an entire year of watching. As for upcoming shows, it's impossible to say, but you can always delve into the catalog for something.

Note that I'm suggesting this without knowing your budgetary situation, so you may find it easier to go with Funimation's cheaper yearly subscription, but you'll run into the same situation re: simulcasts and catalog content. Another point: premium members get the same access to content as premium plus, so you could always opt for that, unless CR comes up with something juicy for premium plus subscribers.

If you can afford the whole year then it's probably worth the saving to pay up front but I always found monthly more convenient. I can cancel at any time if I feel there isn't much happening in a season then come back later when there are things I like and I barely even notice the monthly payments.

I'm fairly new to CR so it will probably take me a couple of years to work through the entire back catalogue (while also watching the simulcasts that catch my attention). As I am going to be hanging around here for at least 24 months the annual payment plan makes sense.

Also I'm from the UK, where the choice of Anime streaming service is quite limited compared to other parts of the world. I don't have the option to sign up to places like the Funimation site here (unless I take the risk of using a virtual network to break the service agreements).

Well after doing 2 years of paying monthly, it seemed a little silly to not just suck it up and pay upfront for the year discount.

Wow, thanks for all the replies guys! I think based on the responses and my budget, I'll be going for the yearly sub after my trial ends. I had no idea people in the UK couldn't sub to Funimation and I'm really sorry to hear that. As I know there are a significant amount of anime fans there. I hope they end up changing their exceptions or something. But either way, I'm happy for all your help!

I think it's worth it and you save more money if you get the yearly plan rather than the month to month. If only hulu+ had a yearly plan.

I guess if you can afford to pay up front and want to dedicate a whole year (You probably will anyway) then it's a decent idea. Looking at the savings in GBP you save about £20 a year by paying yearly.
