The center of the earth tribe. Mainly inhabited by benders and bearers. Stuck in the industrial revolution:

Roan Tallisin

It had been a successful night, as always. Roan dressed in regular clothing, though that did nothing to hide his identity. His customer was still fast asleep in his room on the top floor of the number one brothel in the Earth Tribe.

This morning, at least, Roan wasn't obligated to stay until they woke. That cost extra and they didn't have the money, but he didn't mind. He liked to take morning walks when no one else had yet woken. He smiled and took a deep breath as the morning mist swirled around his feet.

At he walked down to the docks, one of his favorite places to watch the sunrise, he pulled his silk-like hair back into a loose ponytail just enough to keep it from blowing in the breeze. His ears felt a tad cold, but it was a price he was willing to pay.

With Roan....

Repugnant...
A unkept man with black tinted glasses thought rather simply to himself, walking rather slowly through the city. Each step he took, a sizzling sound followed from ground beneath his feet.

. Certainly, strange looks, looks of caution, would've most likely been given by people to this certain man had it not been immensely early in the morning, the sun barely starting to peek over the horizon.

He was just an unprecedented visitor taking in the sights.
One day, most certainly, the constructions standing would be gone. It was better to take note before it happened...Now that the man was looking at it the buildings, he had come to find that they were truly nothing special. His personal thoughts of the buildings, were dirt-like at its core, just like the people who spent their time in them.

For firefly.
Four Years Ago
:"After all I've fucking done for you!?":
Cole grit his teeth, the taste of blood like copper in his mouth.
You haven't done shit.
:"I practically raised you, you should be licking my shoes with gratitude!":
He could smell the liquor off his breath, the pounding in his head as his face began to swell. Despite the rising anger barreling inside his chest, Cole repressed it, shoving it down.
Why else do you think I haven't-
He quickly grit his teeth as his thought was interrupted by another fist to his face. His back met with the stone wall as the blacksmith tossed him aside. Cole was big, both in mass and height. However the other was even more so. Taking the pouch of coins, the blacksmith stashed the boys earnings for the day. He met eyes with the boy and almost shivered at the way his crystal eyes gleamed. Almost.
Cole quickly packed his belongings in a bag. There wasn't much, really, and there was no longer anything left for him there. He felt weak and stupid, god damn stupid for never retaliating against the blacksmith. However despite his own denial, he was right; he was grateful.
For seventeen years he took a strangers child under his wing and showed him the ropes. He had taught him how to be independent, and wasn't always the same man he was now. Which was why Cole had to leave- before he snapped.
The door closed behind him. He should have done this many years ago. Leave- leave the blacksmith to his own demise or leave him with no choice but to sober up and work. He hoped it was the latter. Where would he go?
No clue.
Did he give any fucks?
Nope.
Wiping the smear of blood from his lips, they curved into a smile behind his hand.

Roan was enjoying his peaceful morning when hear heard something unusual. A sizzling sound that came from behind him. Turning, he saw a man walking down the street, a fiery glow on the soles of his shoes. It wasn't unheard of for other tribe members to be there, but was strange. He watched him, assessing the man slowly. He'd met several people from different tribes over time, but this might have been the first time he'd seen someone from he Dark tribe. Of course, this was all Roan's speculation. He could be completely wrong about the man, but in most cases, he was not.

"Morning," he said simply when the man was within earshot. "Are you here to watch the sunrise as well?"

"?"The man with black-tinted glasses turned quizzically towards the voice who had addressed him. He took notice of the rather feminine looking person upon the docks, "It is morning, that much is true," he stated with a faint wry smile on his face, wondering why this person had decided to utter a single word to him. The question preceding it was a rather strange one in the fiery man's opinion. The question didn't seem to have a purpose. Typical for a person to have meaningless questions though. Vulcan wouldn't be too impolite though and not ignore the person.

"The sun rises. To watch it? I hadn't the thought. It is something that rises with its warmth day by day. To know this, is all one needs am I wrong?"

NAN AND COLE

Letting her feet take her onto the usual, cobbled route, Nan took slow steps, calm steps; steps that enjoyed the soft, honeyed breeze, ones that sifted golden strands across her face, ones that made her place them yet again behind bejewelled ears.

One more block down, the battered shop grew closer and with that, so did the chaotic mix of bad blood and anger. Nan heaved, her feet stopping, before running forward to the battered boy.

"You okay...?" The girl approached him, face wincing with worry.

Cole pressed a finger to his curved lips, his crystal eyes winking at her in the dim light. He reckoned the blacksmith knew of his readied departure. Even he knew there was nothing to stop him from leaving.
"I'm leaving," He confessed to his old friend, his voice hushed into a low vibration.

Roan chuckled lightly. "You seem to be a very literal and practical person. If one is robbed of something, should they not appreciate it when they can? And even if someone is not robbed of something, is it not allowable for them to still appreciate what could be stolen?" He smiled at the stranger. "Are you passing through the Earth tribe on business or is this a personal visit?"

NAN AND COLE

It was so sudden, her crash of emotions became even more apparent. With a fallen face, striking green orbs glazed over for a second before blinking hard, a confused mixture of hurt and disbelief. Nan sighed to herself. "Well..."

While there was no mention of his departure before, she had felt the immense tension, and there was no other way really. Cole really never fought back, the blacksmith would never back down, and neither parties seemed to have reached a consensus, which didn't leave many options for him. From her point of view anyways. The girl bit her lip.

"Take care, then." Nan whispered as she pulled out a handkerchief, handing it over to him, pointing at her face, areas that he should dab up. "Are you going to come back...?" She doubted that he had any concise plans.

Cole failed to notice her conflicted expressions of hurt and disbelief. Taking the handkerchief, he dabbed accordingly, and was surprised to find the fabric had soaked up blood. "I'm not sure.." He admitted, a glimmer of excitement brightening his eyes. Cole almost looked like a child he never got to be. From a young age, the only joy he found was through learning new skills and crafting, all to earning money of course. With the burden off his shoulders, he bit back a grin.
Come with me-
He stopped his thoughts before he could blurt them out loud. She had a life here, and it wasn't right to ask her to join his impulsive decision to leave. He wasn't even too sure what direction he would take.
"I'm thinking the air tribes.. Imagine living in the clouds."

NAN AND COLE

Shaking her head slightly, Nan walked forward, taking the handkerchief back before finishing up the job for him. "You look horrible. Let me patch you up at least?" He was so excited, Cole looked so fascinated and eager for once. Nan should be happy shouldn't she? And she is. Just... not sure how to react to the sudden change in lifestyle.

"And the air tribes?" The small girl took a look up at the clouded, yet beautiful sky. "That would be nice- have to get up there first though." Nan smiled.

"I lack the interest for whence you speak of meager things. Both and neither are the truth." The man with the black-tinted glasses noted while looking briefly at the sun, not providing much information as he would. Appreciation...in truth was a word he lacked in his vocabulary so to speak. He looked at the long-haired creature with a amused smile on his face. Naturally, the smile wasn't genuine to any degrees, he frankly was just going through the motions of what he could only think of was called "small talk" .

" Business? Maybe not today, but the next. For today, I would say, you could call it something personal. There lacks particular intent, To see the fleeting flames of the present dance around briefly before they extinguish,"

The man took a few steps closer to the stranger, his foot steps constant heat surrounded the area he stood. He took a closer look at the stranger's face .
"For why do you inquire my appearance here? We know not of each other's lives. "

On most nights where she found him bruised and bloodied, Cole would usually dismiss her help. He was a ticking bomb, a fire cracker that burned out right before exploding. "I'll figure it out." He said, and leaned into the dab of her handkerchief, accepting her kindness for once. Smile fading, he closed his eyes and sighed, mingling a word of "Thanks," into his breath.

"And it is exactly because we do not know each other, that I inquire about you. You say you are here to see what will be gone in years to come. Is your presence here not an even briefer existence whose dance should be seen while you're here to perform it?" Roan retorted. "Curiosity is something I have made good use of, leaning many things that may seem trivial to other, but if I value them, then what should I care for the opinions of others?" He smiled, his features softening. "Will you be staying here long? Sometimes a night is all that's needed," he said, his voice devoid of double meaning.
